Social Worker LCSW, Pediatrics

Job Overview:

The Rutgers Cancer Institute/Robert Wood Johnson Barnabas Health is hiring a licensed social worker to provide direct service to pediatric patients with cancer or blood disorders. This role will join a multidisciplinary psychosocial support team within the pediatric hematology/oncology program.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Masters in Social Work from an accredited institution
• Licensure by the NJ State Board of Social Work Examiners
• Licensed Social Worker or Licensed Clinical Social Worker
• Pediatric experience

Preferred:

• LCSW
• Medical or Oncology experience preferred
• Spanish speaking preferred

Scheduling Requirements:

• This is a full-time position (40 hours/week).

Essential Functions:

• Social workers collaborate closely with medical staff and other members of the psychosocial team to address the comprehensive needs of both the patient and their family. Patients are followed in both the inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Social workers have access to a variety of academic opportunities, including involvement in research and teaching medical students
• Participating in weekly multidisciplinary team meetings to coordinate care
• Coordinating family meetings with the multidisciplinary team
• Coordinating and facilitating school reintegration and services
• Staying informed about community resources
• Providing developmentally appropriate, evidence-based counseling interventions to children and families
• Conducting psychosocial assessments
• Maintaining a professional demeanor at all times with staff and families
