Summary

The Histology Lab Assistant I is responsible for performing a variety of clerical and clinical functions in Histology. Clerical duties include phone reception, printing and distribution of reports as required for treatment and payment, operation of office equipment such as fax machines, copy machines, and printers, in addition to basic computer skills. Clinical duties are performed under the direction of a licensed Histology Technician/Technologist and are limited to those duties allowed by regulatory agencies such as specimen collection and processing of various histology and cytology specimens. Clinical duties include logging specimens, labeling tissue cassettes, specimen verification, specimen tracking, specimen dispatch, and specimen shipping.
