Open-Rank Faculty Position in Neuromodulation for Psychiatry

Tenure faculty (regardless of rank) - persons with the titles of professor, associate professor, assistant professor and instructor who serve on appointments totaling 50% or more service to the university and who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. Duties and responsibilities are assigned in accordance with the workload guidelines laid out in the pattern of administration of each faculty members tenure initiation unit (TIU) and, as appropriate, regional campus; obligations will include research, service and/or teaching or clinical practice. These faculty will have earned doctorate or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study or possession of equivalent experience.

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (OSUWMC) Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health is seeking several faculty members (open rank) to join our Department to complement our current strengths and enhance our research mission. We seek to hire faculty members to expand our departmental mission in neuromodulation and/or interventional psychiatry research. Our ideal candidates are clinician-researchers whose research program focuses on evidence-based neuromodulation treatments for individuals with psychiatric conditions, either in mood disorders, addictions, or combining both areas. The broad search could include any or all of the following. First expertise in use of neuromodulation techniques, including others not mentioned; such as low frequency ultrasound, transcranial magnetic stimulation, psilocybin, ketamine/esketamine, etc. Second, applicants may have expertise and funding in evaluating the mechanisms and moderators of these treatments. Third, applicants may have expertise in examining clinical and functional outcomes, treatment satisfaction, and cost-effectiveness. Although not required, the ideal candidate(s) may also have experience and demonstrated commitment to working with patients in these same areas, (be licensed or eligible) and in training residents, medical students, postdocs, and interns in these methods. The candidate must have a strong record of external research funding, as well as expertise in developing, leading or substantially contributing to clinical, education, and research programs with regard to interventional psychiatry.

Faculty will join a multi-disciplinary team of clinicians and scientists in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health and will be locating within the Mood and Anxiety Program and/or the Addiction Program. Individuals in these positions are expected to contribute to training, research, and other scholarly pursuits as well.

Applicants must have an advanced degree (M.D., Ph.D.), with specialization in Psychiatry or Clinical Psychology from an accredited program and following accredited training pathways in alignment with suitability for licensure and clinical practice in the State of Ohio. Those with clinical degrees must be licensed in Ohio by the time of appointment. In some cases, individuals with substantial research programs and funding, and without clinical training or eligibility may be considered for this role (e.g., Ph.D., in Cognitive Neuroscience or similar), provided they are actively interested in, and demonstrate prior commitment to training clinical professionals and supporting clinical care. Faculty Defined
Clinical faculty (regardless of rank)- Persons with titles of assistant professor-clinical, associate professor-clinical and professor-clinical. These faculty will have earned a doctor of medicine (MD), doctorate (PhD) orother terminal degree in the relevant field. Clinical faculty members are not eligible for tenure and areappointed for terms of three to five years. They may be reappointed to successive terms. Their principal careerfocus is the delivery of exemplary clinical care, and may include teaching, and/or research.

Tenure-Track faculty (regardless of rank)- Persons with the titles of assistant professor, associate professor, orprofessor who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. These faculty will have earned a doctorate(PhD), Doctor of Medicine (MD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study. Their primary careerfocus centers on research, service, and teaching.Tenure-track faculty with MD or MD/PhD degrees may also beinvolved in clinical care.

Research Faculty (regardless of rank)- Persons with the titles of research assistant professor, research associateprofessor, or research professor. These faculty will have earned a doctorate(PhD) or other terminal degree inthe relevant field of study.Research faculty members are not eligible for tenure and areappointed for terms ofone to five years. Their principal careerfocus is research.
