Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and innovative Director of Backend Services to lead the development and execution of backend services that support the core functionality of Customer Premise Equipment (CPE). The successful candidate will be responsible for building scalable, reliable, and high-performance backend software components and APIs that enable seamless interaction between external systems and CPE devices. This includes orchestrating solutions for data collection, device control, communication frameworks, configuration management, and code deployment to CPE devices.

Responsibilities
  • Define and execute the roadmap for backend services that support CPE devices and systems.
  • Provide strategic direction for backend architecture, development processes, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with product managers, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment between business goals and technical execution.
  • Lead the design and development of APIs and services that enable external systems to interact with CPE devices for monitoring, control, and provisioning.
  • Architect and oversee systems that support data collection and analytics from CPE devices, ensuring scalability and performance.
  • Develop frameworks for device communication, ensuring security, reliability, and ease of integration.
  • Build mechanisms for orchestrating device configuration, management, and provisioning.
  • Guide the development of automation tools for device code deployment, ensuring seamless upgrades and patching processes.
  • Oversee the integration of backend systems with orchestration platforms for real-time control and monitoring.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs to assess the performance and reliability of CPE services, driving continuous improvement initiatives based on data-driven insights.
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of major projects related to CPE orchestration, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and meet quality standards.
  • Lead a team of backend engineers, providing mentorship, guidance, and career development opportunities.
  • Work closely with DevOps, frontend, and network teams to ensure seamless integration between backend services and the broader infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with security teams to ensure all backend systems comply with security standards and industry regulations.
  • Partner with QA teams to ensure rigorous testing and quality assurance processes are in place for all backend services.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field. An MBA or equivalent business degree is a plus
  • 10+ years of experience in software development, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing teams responsible for software development of backend services
  • Proven track record of delivering large-scale, mission-critical projects on time and within budget
  • Experience in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment, with a strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities in CPE orchestration

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with CPE management platforms
  • Knowledge of telecommunications or networking technologies
  • Familiarity with edge computing frameworks and orchestration tools

This position is identified as being performed in/or reporting to company operations in New York State. Salary ranges are supplied in compliance with New York State law. Pay is competitive and based on a number of job-related factors, including skills and experience. The starting pay rate/range at time of hire for this position in the posted location is $155,509.00-$222,156.00/year. The rate/range provided herein is the anticipated pay at the time of hire, and does not reflect future job opportunity.
