Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The College of Business ( COB) has been AACSB accredited for over 40 years. We offer BSBA, MBA, and MSA degrees and our School of Hospitality Management offers both a BS in Hospitality Management and an MS in Sustainable Tourism and Hospitality. Additionally, the Miller School of Entrepreneurship offers a BS in Entrepreneurship.
We are one of the largest Colleges of Business in the state with approximately 4,200 undergraduate and 900 graduate students. To date, the COB has approximately 150 faculty members of the highest caliber, skilled in the scholarship of research, teaching, and application of knowledge. A strategic goal of the college is to create an environment where the faculty, staff, and students can thrive and be personally and professionally respected.
Job Duties

The College of Business is seeking an Associate Dean for Academic Quality ( ADAQ) to begin July 1, 2025. The Associate Dean for Academic Quality ( ADAQ) reports directly to the Dean and serves as a member of the senior leadership team for the College. The ADAQ is responsible for ensuring the quality of all current and future academic programs and serves as a key leader in all academic quality related activities including assessment, accreditation, and new program development. The Associate Dean for Academic Quality must have a continuing record of scholarly achievement, and be capable of representing the College with internal and external stakeholders.

Academic Program Responsibilities

  • Work with the College leadership and academic programs and advising to establish annual curricular goals, create strategies to ensure goals are met, and track and report on all relevant goals and metrics.
  • Advise College Leadership on programs and resources needed to enhance teaching in academic programs
  • Analyze data and create reports that ensure the academic integrity of programs
  • Work with faculty and department chairs to identify and develop new academic programs, develop strategic plans for their implementation, and make meaningful changes to the curriculum
  • Work with department chairs for the continuous improvement of existing academic programs in concert with the strategic plans of the College and the University
  • Inform the College leadership on industry trends, demands, and strategies to best execute and deliver our academic programs
  • Serve on COB Graduate Committees; COB Undergraduate Committees; COB Graduate AOL; COB Undergraduate AOL
  • Collaborate and facilitate with units across the University and partner schools to facilitate the creation of appropriate dual degree undergraduate programs, areas of emphasis, pathway agreements, and other academic partnerships


Assurance of Learning Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of a College-wide assessment program and complies with the requirements of multiple accrediting bodies
  • Serve as a senior advisor to COB AACSB Accreditation
  • Oversight of curriculum reviews and assurance of learning reviews of all college academic programs
  • Compile academic quality data and complete appropriate reports for accreditation
  • Committee engagement:

    • Draft policies necessary in the development and administration of the assessment process
    • Facilitate the efficient and effective functioning of committees charged with reviewing assessment data and crafting plans for continuous improvement efforts.
    • Serve on University committees related to assessment and academic quality
    • Identify/serve as Graduate Curriculum Committee Liaison and University Curriculum Committee Liaison


  • Act as a liaison between the College and the University regarding assessment issues.
  • Aid Department Chairs and School Directors with the execution of learning improvements that are associated with closing the loop on student learning outcomes in their respective areas.
  • Arrange for faculty development seminars on assessment-related topics.
  • Promote the College's assessment process to internal and external audiences through the College assessment website and by delivering presentations at assessment meetings and conferences.
  • Attend assessment and accreditation training for the dissemination of best practices to College faculty, staff, and administration.
  • Collaborate with relevant personnel, such as University Program Specialist, Technology Support Analyst, Administrative Support Associate, and Graduate Assistants.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of AACSB, SACS, and other relevant accreditation standards.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Provide feedback in annual budget and position allocation processes.
  • Assist with College-level searches as needed.
  • Maintain academic qualifications through involvement in administrative development and/or research in areas of professional and teaching expertise. Appropriate administrative development activities should be guided by the suggestions of AACSB.
  • Other duties as assigned or elected.

Minimum Education/Experience
Doctoral degree in one of the disciplines within the College, a notable record in teaching, scholarship, and service sufficient for appointment as a full or associate professor and can be tenured in one of the departments or schools of the college. Proven leadership experience as well as demonstrated ability to work collegially with faculty, staff, administration and other relevant stakeholders.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
Administrative experience is preferred in addition to experience with academic program planning, AACSB standards and accreditation, assurance of learning, and prior business experience.
