Kurita's corporate philosophy is to study the properties of water, master them and create an environment in which nature and humanity are in harmony Job Title: Maintenance Technician Location: Grapevine, TX to start then will eventually report to Fort Worth, TX Comp: $24-28/hour The Maintenance Technician main objective is to follow the tasks and Safety and Hazmat rules involved in the manufacturing and blending of Kurita America products, processes and applications, as well as is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain manufacturing and facility equipment as well as groundskeeping and building maintenance.
Responsibilities
Responsible for servicing and repairing pumps, drum tippers, mixers, etc.
- Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance repairs of manufacturing equipment during machine service.
- Perform mechanical skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of manufacturing machines including the boiler.
- Safely and accurately use mixers and have thorough knowledge of their control panels including water, on/off switches, valves, etc.
- Perform groundskeeping and building maintenance duties.
- Participate in monthly safety meetings and quarterly training.
- Maintain a safe work environment by using the proper PPE and following all work instructions.
- If needed, able to help production by producing, repackaging or relabeling chemicals in accordance with Kurita's quality control procedures, including completing and maintaining batch tickets, labels and other order details.
- Collecting chemical and hazardous / non-hazardous waste samples as required.
- Learn and maintain training in chemical segregation, hazardous waste manifesting, hazardous waste recordkeeping, hazardous waste labeling, RCRA and DOT regulations compliance
- Able to perform hazardous waste inspections and hazardous waste maintain training on identifying and managing hazardous waste spills.
- Maintain training on emergency preparedness and what to do in an emergency
- Ensure compliance and understanding of accumulation time for hazardous waste.
- Maintain DOT (every 3 years) and appropriate RCRA training (annually) for shipping/receiving of hazardous goods and hazardous waste.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or three years related experience.
- Certification and licensing to operate factory machinery and forklift is strongly preferred.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or warehouse setting is preferred.
- Current or quickly obtain forklift operating license plus basic maintenance experience.
- Ability to learn how to operate, maintain and identify problems or malfunctions with machinery and equipment.
- Good problem-solving skills necessary to troubleshoot manufacturing equipment issues.
Physical and Mental requirements: Being able to do the following in a safe and effective manner.
- Mechanical abilities and aptitude combined with the following physical requirements: lift 55lbs, use forklifts, and wear respirator and other PPE.
- Climbing, ascending, and descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and industrial equipment, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms.
- Reaching and extending hands and arms in any direction.
- Standing and walking for sustained periods of time.
- Pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, and stooping for sustained periods of time.
- Using upper extremities to move objects and equipment with steady force.
- Sometimes working in temperatures above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour.
