National Institute for Student Success

The National Institute for Student Success at Georgia State University (NISS) is dedicated to helping colleges and universities identify and resolve institutionally-created barriers to equity and college completion. Through diagnostic services and practitioner-led coaching, collectively known as NISS high-touch services, the Institute enables campus leaders to implement proven student-success systems and data-driven interventions and to enact systemic change to institutional processes and structures.

The NISS Business Manager will be the primary person responsible for coordinating the budget and personnel matters of NISS operations. This includes advanced level duties in the administration of the business affairs of the NISS. Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Business Manager will develop and facilitate financial policies and procedures, advise management in financial matters, prepare and review annual budgets, supervise any office clerical or support staff, and maintain departmental budget and personnel records. This position will assist the NISS HR Business partner in developing and processing paperwork for new positions, as well as position reclassifications. This position will also lead and/or assist in planning meetings, conferences, and special events for the NISS and work with administrative officers across the division to maintain compliance with university policies and procedures.

HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO

* Develops and facilitates the financial and office policies and procedures of the NISS

* Manages the financial affairs of the department.

* Monitors departmental expenditures and reimbursements; approves expenditures.

* Monitors NISS funding sources and prepares annual budgets with the NISS Grants Manager.

* Prepares financial reports.

* Monitors Property Control and Equipment Maintenance; arranges the maintenance of equipment.

* Serves as the primary liaison to other administrative units involving financial matters.

* Monitors compliance with university policies and procedures.

* Maintains departmental budget and personnel records for the unit.

* Assists in the planning and coordination of special events, such as conferences and ceremonies, hosted by or participated in by the NISS.

* Coordinates functional processes within the NISS, such as processing personnel activities.

* Approves and monitors expenditures and coordinates the payment of invoices.

* Receives, sorts, and distributes all incoming mail and documents.

* Assists the Executive Director in implementing policies and procedures and monitors compliance with policies and procedures.

* Creates and processes personnel paperwork for new positions and position reclassifications

* May supervise work of lower-level office staff, graduate assistants or student assistants.

* Drafts reports and correspondence, processes forms, and distributes weekly/monthly reports.

* Assists NISS staff in the coordination of travel reservations and documentation.

* Inventories supplies and equipment; maintains service contracts on all office equipment.

* Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

Minimum Hiring Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and six years of administrative experience; or a combination of education and related experience.

Preferred Hiring Qualifications:

* Knowledge of University rules, policies, and procedures.

* Knowledge of computer equipment and information systems, such as Peoplesoft Spectrum, MS Excel, MS Word, MS Access, etc.

* Knowledge of business, financial management, and standard human resources practices.

* Effective communication, time management, and organizational skills.

* Ability to supervise and direct the work of others.
