Minimum Experience/Education

Bachelor's degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or and equivalent combination of training and experience.

All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Demonstrated capabilities include:
* Develop and coordinate the Activity Schedule for STI and various scholarship/fellowship Programs;
* Maintain organized electronic and hard copy files of student enhancement programs and activities;
* Interact with other offices within the University as well as outside of the University and work as a team player;
* Complete activities in areas of responsibility in a timely manner.
* Willing or desire to explore new activities to solve problems, if necessary.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor or Master's Degree with one year experience in education, communication, or management related field.
Other Preferred Qualifications:
* Proficient with office software packages, tools and website applications;
* Possess good organizational skills, detail oriented and follow directions/instructions;
* Ability to work independently as well as be part of a team.
* Ability to prioritize and communicate effectively.

Position Overview


Primary Purpose of Position
The Program Coordinator is expected to coordinate the Summer Transportation Institute ( STI), work force development tasks and various scholarship programs as directed by the Director and/or Program Manager, Transportation Institute. The Program Assistant is also expected to provide administrative support to the Director of Transportation, Management of sponsored program, and activities of this interdisciplinary research unit. Coordinates financial and contract activities, recommends policy changes for internal operations, supervises student assistants, program scholars, and support staff assigned to the unit.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit
To serve as a national, regional, and local clearinghouse for transportation education, research, and outreach; offering seminars, workshops, lectures, publications, and other information for public and private transportation practitioners, decision-makers, and the general public.
Work Hours From 8:00 am to 5:00 pm on Monday-Friday

Key Responsibilities and Related Competencies


Required Competency Administrative Duties
Duties

  • Meet with supervisor regularly to develop plans for STI, workforce development and scholarship program activities;
  • Coordinate with faculty members, administrators, students and staff to monitor progress of Unit activities;
  • Plan with the Director/PI on approaches, procedures, and techniques to conduct research and outreach activities;



Required Competency Data/Information/Records Management
Duties

  • Serve as point-of-contact for data storage, organization, and management
  • Create analyses, graphs, charts, and other data applications for program reports, proposals, and stakeholder meetings
  • Maintain and secure all data related to Unit activities.



Required Competency Communication and Public Relations
Duties

  • Establishes clear and regular communication channels with all program participants, sponsors, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensures all relevant parties are informed of progress, issues, and upcoming deadlines.
  • Fosters a collaborative environment, encouraging open dialogue and cooperation between team members.



Required Competency Budget Management
Duties

  • Monitors program expenditures to ensure adherence to the budget.
  • Makes cost-effective decisions without compromising the quality or goals of the program.
  • Prepares regular budget reports and forecasts.
