Job Description

Nature and Level of Work:

Perform work at an entry level of skill in the trade of refrigeration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform minor maintenance and repair of facilities and associated equipment involved in the mechanical trade area.
  • Assist journey level mechanical trades employees as required.
  • Refer to the task statement for the specific mechanical trades area being filled.
  • Complete appropriate training in the trade and successfully pass written exam in order to progress.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Shift

7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. or 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Monday thru Friday

Minimum Qualifications

* High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
* Two years of working experience in the maintenance of facilities, with preference given for experience in the specific trade being filled OR completion of vocational education training in desired field OR equivalent military experience.
* Must pass a written test related to the specific trade being performed.
* Automatic promotion to Maintenance Mechanic III position upon successful completion of written exam and skill assessment.
* Automatic progression to Power Plant Control Systems Technician I or Building Controls Systems Technician I after 18 months and successfully completing a defined in-position training and skills assessment plan.
* The minimum time a person must spend in this position is 6 months. Person in this title will be allowed to remain in the position up to 18 months at which time they must have successfully completed the necessary requirement to move into the Maintenance Mechanic III position or higher. If they are unable to meet the minimum qualification of the Maintenance Mechanic III, they will be placed back in the position they were in before becoming a Maintenance Mechanic II.
* A person working in this classification will need, on a daily basis, to be able to:
- Grasp, lift, maneuver, rotate, and otherwise use small to large trades tools and equipment
- Grasp, lift, carry, and set down heavy (50-80 lbs) objects
- Grasp, turn, twist, pull, push, lift, and otherwise move equipment, controls, parts, etc.
- Visually assess maintenance, construction, and repair needs
- Climb and work from ladders, stairs, and scaffolding.
* Wear appropriate PPE while accomplishing assigned tasks.
* Must possess a valid driver's license, which will allow legal operation of a motor vehicle in the State of Missouri.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to applicants with refrigeration experience.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour

Grade: GGS-E
