POSITION SUMMARY:

The ServiceNow Platform Architect will interface across all business areas, acting as visionaries to proactively assist in defining the direction for future projects. They conceive strategies, solutions, build consensus, and sell/execute solutions. They are involved in all aspects of the project life cycle, from the initial kickoff through the requirements analysis, design and implementation. Additional responsibilities may include the establishment of the overall architectural viewpoints and the establishment and oversight of organization standards and policies. The ServiceNow Platform Architect identifies major system interfaces, business capability needs, and existing architecture weaknesses and opportunities for systems. Serving in this role requires an individual to be a self-starter, work independently, and as a team member. They must have strong communication skills in interfacing with business partners and the IT community. ServiceNow Platform Architect are also responsible for educating and guiding others on architectural standards, principles, methodology and trends. They must have significant business knowledge and have expertise within one or more areas of information, solution, and/or technical architecture in which they concentrate. Architects are expected to mentor and coach less experienced staff and provide knowledge transfer across the organization. The ServiceNow Platform Architect provides guidance, road maps, principles, standards and best practices. They must be focused on enabling business and IT leaders to make investment decisions that balance and prioritize current operational demands, disruptions, and opportunities with the longer-term strategic vision of the organization. This role may manage teams of architects.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Understand & advise impact & scope of plugins coming into the environment

  • champion the initiative to de-customize legacy platform code, better utilize intelligent search and the inherent virtual agent capability

  • Set the standard for catalog taxonomy (across HRSD, ITSM and SecOps)

  • Proactively manage health scans and other platform assessments

  • Serve as a mentor for the solution architects

  • Establishes standard architectural principles, patterns, and processes

  • Understands, documents, aligns, and optimizes strategy, capabilities, roadmaps, and application portfolios in close partnership with stakeholders

  • Leads and provides high level architecture for complex and cross functional POCs, pilots, and projects

  • Analyzes current architectures to identify weaknesses and develop opportunities for improvements

  • Provides strategic consultation to IT Leaders and other ITI architects

  • Advises on options, risks, costs versus benefits, system impacts, and technology priorities

  • Contributes to the IT strategy and ensures alignment with architectural strategy and business goals

  • Advises on allocation of budget to meet architectural initiatives critical to business/mission success

  • Coordinates with Application Architects on Delivery teams to ensure alignment with Enterprise Architecture patterns and practices

  • May lead strategic M&A activity

  • May provide oversight of architects and their daily activities including setting objectives, measuring performance, and cultivating career growth

  • Other duties as assigned

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, System Analysis or a related field or equivalent work experience.

  • Typically has fifteen (15) or more years of IT and business/industry work experience including architecture design and deployment and systems lifecycle management

  • Three (3) experience in leading multiple, large, cross-functional projects, and influencing senior level management and key stakeholders. Requires exposure to multiple, diverse technologies and processing environments.

DESIRED CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Certified Technical Architect (CTA)

  • Certified Master Architect (CMA)

  • ITILv4

MINIMUM SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proficient communication skills and experience in mentoring/leading teams

  • Ability to translate complicated business requirements into multiple solution options and explain the pros/cons of various approaches

  • Deep understanding of business strategy and ability to translate strategy into system and technology solutions.

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; ability to communicate with customers, associates and management; solid teamwork and interpersonal skills

  • Strong presentation skills: ability to present and discuss strategies and technical information in a manner that establishes rapport, persuades others, and gains understanding

  • Ability to establish solid relationships with vendors in support of initiatives; ability to negotiate and manage outside vendors against deliverables.
