The role of the Plating Laboratory Technician is to maintain the balance of the chemistry in the plating tanks in order to ensure the production of quality parts. What You Will Do * Check in all plating chemicals for plating line, lab, and waste treatment. * Perform a variety of test on the 20 tanks on the plating line with 1 to 7 tests per tank using wet titration methods, Surface Tensiometer, Hull Cells and various other testing methods & equipment * Use True Chem software to input data from test results. Ability to read & understand working limits of the analysis. Communicate with Process Team if any issues are seen * Keep all lab documents and lab performance in compliance with all plant audit standards. * Keep up with chemical inventory for plating lab. * Responsible for following all environmental policies, procedures, work instructions and requirements applicable to his or her work, including the proper use of personal protective equipment. * Responsible for immediately reporting to management all environmental concerns related to work being carried out, as well as, all incidents, which present a hazard to people, production, or the environment. Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Mathematical skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as concentrations, percentage, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Reasoning ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations. OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Ability to use and calibrate all lab instruments. Ability to access concentrations in tanks and mathematically determine appropriate additions and enter them into the computer. Ability to use troubleshooting skills, be able to perform requested test on short notice. Ability to check chemicals for proper specifications on the C of A's for compliance. Ability to read and understand MSDS. Knowledge of data entry, Word and Excel. Ability to run hull cells.
