JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State Behrend is searching for a full time Maintenance Worker (General) B to join their team. Duties include:

  • Operate tractors, pick-up and dump trucks, and power mowers to cut grass, trim lawns, weeds, and perform other landscape duties
  • Assist Group Leader, Landscape in trimming, pruning shrubbery and trees; dig and shovel; spread fertilizer; seed lawns and athletic areas, etc.; plant, transplant, weed, spray and cultivate trees, grass, shrubbery, etc.
  • Rake and remove leaves, paper, and other debris from lawns, parking lots and roadways
  • Wash windows, spot clean areas of buildings as required
  • Assist maintenance mechanics in mechanical and building maintenance for construction, repair, and alterations
  • Remove snow and ice as directed; spread cinders, sawdust and chemical ice and snow remover on walks and roads; operate power snow removal equipment
  • Vacuum and sweep walks and driveways; clean catch basins and road drains
  • Replace interior and exterior burned-out light bulbs
  • Perform minor maintenance such as installing shelves, blackboards, fire extinguishers, door and window hardware, etc.
  • Dig post holes and assist in erecting fences; dig holes, trenches, ditches, foundations, etc. for construction and repair
  • Clean and remove debris from various buildings and facilities
  • Perform routine repairs and maintenance on equipment such as trucks, tractors, vans, and grounds equipment, including changing plugs, oil and oil filters, lubrication, drive belts, sharpen and adjust blades, etc.; check fleet vehicles to assure adequate oil, radiator and battery level, brake, power steering and transmission fluids, etc.; record maintenance performed and miles, dates, etc. at time of performance
  • Perform interior and exterior maintenance painting; paint benches, fences, guard rails, lines, etc.
  • Move furniture as required; set up furniture, platforms, etc.; set up bleachers, goal posts, etc.
  • Occasionally direct the work of part-time employees.
  • Operate University vehicles.

Job Requirements: Requires the use of simple writing, adding, subtracting, whole numbers and the carrying out of instructions; and the use of fixed gauges and direct reading instruments and devices in which interpretation is not required. A Pennsylvania Pesticide Applicator`s License Core 0 and Category 7 is required upon hire. Over 6 up to and including 12 months of effective experience.

Work Schedule:8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Days Off:Saturday, Sunday

NOTE: THIS POSITION REQUIRES THAT YOU OPERATE A MOTOR VEHICLE AS A PART OF YOUR JOB DUTIES. A VALID DRIVER`S LICENSE AND SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF A MOTOR VEHICLE RECORDS CHECK WILL BE REQUIRED IN ADDITION TO STANDARD BACKGROUND CHECKS.
