Position Summary:

We are seeking a diligent and detail oriented collector to join our Credit & Collections Department to manage and collect outstanding accounts receivable balances from the customer base, ensure timely payments, and maintain positive customer relationships. Order release as needed in both AS400 and JDE ERP systems.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Use written and verbal skills to contact customers to receive payment information and clear past due receivables with goal to keep accounts receivable as current as possible. Enter timely collection notes on all customer contacts. Communicate credit holds throughout the organization. Work with credit department to resolve credit hold issues.
  • Monitor assigned credit limits and track payment trends. Modify customer contact information and portal log in information. Work with internal contacts to resolve issues with invoices to include EDI Team, Customer Service, and sales team. Identify and escalate as needed, items that are excessively aged to include write- off of uncollectible balances.
  • Provide special reports such as current status of customer accounts and other analytical reports as requested.
  • Upon approval, enter credits/adjustments in JDE & AS400 according to procedures to include correcting invoices.
  • Attend meetings regarding accounts receivable, credit & collections process.
  • Assist with training new and existing employees on procedures related to AS400, JDE.
  • Learn about the credit process, credit files and credit reporting as time allows.
  • Quarterly visit to headquarter office depending on events and meeting times.
  • Timely order release of credit holds based on credit policy standards.
  • Cross coverage on collections and order release as needed.
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent, including 3+ years collection experience is required.
  • An associate or bachelor's degree is a plus.
  • Accounts receivable experience is preferred.
  • Bilingual Spanish speaking is a benefit.
  • Experience in AS400 and an ERP platform are preferred.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Strong mathematical skills and working knowledge of relative software and mainframe capabilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • In-depth knowledge of standard accounts receivable procedures including professional standard practices governing commercial collection.
  • Diplomatic skills needed to solve customer generated problems. Strong negotiation skills.
  • Ability to deal with varied types of customers from mass merchandisers to smaller, local operations.
  • Basic working knowledge of credit granting principles and judgment to make informed decisions when evaluating risk for orders pending release for shipment. Knowledge of the food industry is an advantage.

  • Salary Base Range of$51,565.00 -$63,888.00for Employees Located in California*

*The "base salary range" provided above is a good faith estimate of what we expect to pay for this position. The range provided is for California-based employees as Ventura Foods is required by California State Law to post pay rates. Ventura Foods reserves the right to pay outside of the given range based on a variety of factors including but not limited to: candidate skills and experience, complexity of the job, budgetary factors, and location/geography.
