Overview

The High Value Payments Team is looking for an experienced Lead user interface (UI) Engineer to lead UI development on a complex, mission-critical payments system. The ideal professional will be able to help us convert a series of legacy clients into modern web-based user interfaces. This is a good opportunity for somebody who wants meaningful hands-on experience transforming a critical high-volume application.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the definition and development of modern web-based user interfaces

  • Mentor and teach others through training or coaching, and by setting a good engineering example

  • Work with Business Analysts and Product Owners to define functional and non-functional requirements, technical analysis, and design

  • Hands-on coding, automation testing, and code reviews

  • Plan and direct UI work of yourself and more junior colleagues

  • Collaborate with other UI professionals throughout the Bank to contribute to the larger body of knowledge and standards

How You'll Lead

  • Strong desire to teach and mentor others so the entire team can grow and learn

Skills You'll Need

  • Extensive, recent hands-on experience with React, JavaScript ES6+, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS

  • Experience with Node.js, securing web applications, automated testing, ability to create wireframes or other design artifact

  • High standards and a commitment to deliver quality engineering work on an Agile team

  • Driven to constantly learn and research new technologies

  • Ability to plan complex projects, document and explain plans/roadmaps, and gather feedback

Skills That Will Help You Excel

  • Excellent communication skills and knowing how your work fits into the bigger picture

  • Problem solving - creatively solve complex problems and take ownership of the solution until its completion

  • Domain experience with payments, banking, finance, or in another highly regulated environment is a plus

  • Bachelor's degree in equivalent field

  • Experience migrating applications from client-server to modern web-based applications

Expectations

It is the Bank's expectation that employees hired into this role will work in the Cary office in accordance with the Bank's hybrid working model.

The salary range for this position in Cary is $125,000 to $185,000.Actual salaries may be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's skill set, experience, education, work location and other qualifications. Posted salary ranges do not include incentive compensation or any other type of remuneration.
