The IT Business Analyst position will report to the Manager of Business Systems in Stanley Consultants' Technology Services group. The IT Business Analyst will collaborate closely with operational business leaders, Technology Services management team, and other members of the Information Technology team to gather, document, and translate business requests into actionable technical requirements to be implemented by the Technology Services team. The Business Analyst will become a subject matter expert (SME) in Stanley Consultants' business acumen, processes, development tools and data as necessary to act as a liaison between the business and the Technology Services group team.

This position will play a pivotal role in expanding the Technology Services Group's capabilities and capacity through development and implementation of repeatable requirements gathering processes while working closely with the Technology Services management team to review, prioritize, and maintain proper documentation and reports regarding active business requests.

The ideal candidate will have a love for business analysis, a background in requirements gathering and user story creation, with a strong desire to learn the engineering consulting business Stanley operates and an advocate for a small but growing development team.

What You Will Be Doing:



  • Elicit, analyze, specify, and validate the business needs of stakeholders.
  • Become a SME of Stanley's processes and data to help facilitate requirements gathering and user story creation.
  • Develop functional and/or technical requirements based on conversations with stakeholders that the development team can utilize for implementation.
  • Identify appropriate technologies and designs for solutions for implementation that meet requirements.
  • Work closely with Technology Services management team and business stakeholders to validate and prioritize collected requirements ensuring system and process designs meet requirements.
  • Work closely with Technology Services management team and project managers during requirements gathering and development.
  • Work closely with the Director of IT and IT steering committee to manage onboarding and prioritization of new projects.
  • Design visual and written presentations of project charters, proposed solutions for senior division leadership.
  • Represent and advocate technology solutions for the Technology Services Group.
  • Develop user stories and requirements gathered to into wireframes and prototypes to validate envisioned solutions.
  • Identify areas for automation or efficiency gains by investigating existing processes or systems used by the business and recommending appropriate changes.
  • Other administrative tasks as deemed necessary by the Technology Services management team.


Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree or demonstrated experience in the field of business administration, finance, information systems, or a related field.
  • Four-plus years of related work experience.
  • Proven experience with business and technical requirement gathering and analysis.
  • Excellent analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Prior experience creating user stories, wireframes, and specifications based off gathered requirements.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks while under pressure.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences is required.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Basic understanding of the software development life cycle and project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, etc.).
  • Ability influence and present recommendations to management.
  • Detail oriented, analytical and inquisitive in communicating and presenting complex ideas in a way that is intuitive.
  • Experience with wireframing and prototyping tools such as Balsamiq, Canva, Figma or similar tools.
  • Strong track record of applying analytics to improve business operations and drive quality improvement.
  • Desire to work on a small, but growing team as a business process and data SME.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and occasional ambiguous reporting requirements.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Microsoft Project experience a plus.
  • Proficient with MS Office 365, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint. Prior Excel VBA knowledge a plus.
  • Experience with Microsoft Power Platform development is a plus.
  • Familiarity with the engineering consulting industry a plus.



Stanley's Approach to Flexibility

While some members choose to work out of their local office on a full-time basis, we offer a hybrid schedule for eligible positions consisting of two days a week in the office, two days a week remotely, and Friday being a flexible day that can be worked either in the office or at home. Eligible roles can also offer a compressed workweek schedule. Members who participate will be assigned a 9/80 work schedule, meaning every other Friday off!
