The
Center for Youth Social Emotional Wellness (
CYSEW) in the Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology (
GSAPP) at
Rutgers University-New Brunswick invites applications for a postdoctoral fellowship position; start date is flexible between July 1, 2025 and September 1, 2025. The mission of the
CYSEW is to promote youth mental health equity; defined as the right to access quality mental health care regardless of the individual's race, ethnicity, linguistic literacy/proficiency, gender, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, disability status, or geographical location. Center faculty work with youth of all ages and have a particular passion for promoting positive mental health and wellness for adolescents and emerging adults.
Importantly, the percent effort devoted to clinical work, research, and community-engagement as part of this fellowship is flexible. Center faculty welcome applicants primarily seeking additional clinical training and hours towards licensure. All fellows receive weekly licensed supervision and have opportunities to engage in both assessment and treatment with a wide range of populations. Alternatively, the fellowship can be structured as an even (50/50) clinical work and research split. In addition, the percent time in-person v. remote is also flexible, with applicants eligible for up to three days per week of remote work. In terms of programs of research, center faculty welcome applicants whose work fits under the umbrella of
ADHD and/or mental health equity. For example, postdoctoral fellows may have an interest in the integration of mental health care into school and primary care settings to increase access to evidence-based care and the development/implementation of brief and resource efficient mental health interventions to facilitate widespread adoption.
CYSEW faculty conduct school- and community-engaged research with the needs of the community driving the
CYSEW research agenda (see
CYSEW website for more information). Postdoctoral fellows in this position will have access to longitudinal and treatment outcome datasets to publish from and will collaborate with faculty on grant proposals.
Competitive applicants will have strong expertise with mental health assessment, including using semi-structured diagnostic interviews to diagnose
ADHD and common comorbid conditions.
