Position Announcement

The Department of Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences at Utah Tech University (UT) in St. George, Utah invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor faculty position, starting Fall Semester 2025. The department, located within the College of Education, serves as a hub for interdisciplinary activities on campus and is the home for both the Integrated Studies (INTS) and the Individualized Studies (INDS) baccalaureate degree programs. Responsibilities

  • Teaching: Teach a variety of undergraduate courses within the department's curriculum, including core courses, topics courses, and capstone courses. The successful candidate will have opportunities to teach in person and online, with an emphasis in online teaching.
  • Scholarship: Engage in scholarly research and publication in their field of expertise, contributing to the department's reputation for excellence in research.
  • Curriculum Development: Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement innovative interdisciplinary curricula that address current challenges and emerging trends, with a focus on online learning pedagogies.
  • Mentorship: Provide mentorship to undergraduate students, fostering their intellectual growth and professional development.
  • Service: Contribute to the department, college, and university through service on committees and other academic activities. Participate in university and departmental recruitment and retention initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree from an accredited institution(s) in any field.
  • A strong record of scholarly achievement, including publications in peer-reviewed journals, required. A publication record in an interdisciplinary field or at least two academic fields of study preferred.
  • Teaching background in an interdisciplinary degree program and/or courses that engage interdisciplinary subject matters, with a demonstrated ability to successfully teach courses (finalists will be required to demonstrate competency via a teaching demonstration).
  • Experience in curriculum development or program design.
  • Experience in designing and delivering online courses, together with a commitment to excellence in online teaching.
  • Experience guiding undergraduate student theses and/or senior projects preferred.
  • Competence in utilizing technology for teaching tools and in creating innovative and high impact learning environments for students pursuing a diverse range of academic emphases.
  • A commitment to interdisciplinary studies and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with students, staff, and colleagues, both orally and in writing.
  • A passion for mentoring students and fostering their academic success.
  • An eagerness to engage with faculty, staff, and administrators to develop ways to improve the students' educational experiences.

Supplemental Information

POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Full-time (9-month) tenure-track faculty position. Faculty service begins August 2025, with pay and benefits starting July 1, 2025. Annual salary of $68,000+ depending on qualifications and experience, with additional compensation available for optional summer/overload teaching.
