The Department of Agricultural, Food, and Resource Economics is actively recruiting for the position of Assistant Teaching Professor, seeking a candidate with strong expertise in Machine Learning Applications in Economics. A significant focus of this position is the expansion of the department's Data Analytics program. The Assistant Teaching Professor will play a pivotal role in developing and delivering courses that contribute to this growing concentration. By integrating machine learning and data-driven approaches into the curriculum, the candidate will strengthen the department's capacity to prepare students for careers in data analytics, agricultural economics, and related fields.

The Assistant Teaching Professor will play a pivotal role in delivering high-caliber instruction at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, with a particular emphasis on integrating machine learning applications into agricultural economics and related fields. The candidate will design and implement courses that bridge theoretical knowledge with practical applications, fostering a deep understanding of the connections between machine learning and economics. By leveraging machine learning techniques to address pressing economic challenges, the Assistant Teaching Professor will incorporate research insights into the classroom, providing students with experiential learning opportunities rooted in real-world applications. Advising:

Service:

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics, Economics, or a related field, with a proven focus on machine learning applications.
- Expertise in areas such as microeconomics, macroeconomics, econometrics, agricultural economics, sustainable and regenerative development, food systems, business management, finance, and international trade.
- Proven ability to effectively apply machine learning techniques to address economic challenges.
- Demonstrable skills in teaching and mentoring students.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills.

Overview |
The Department: The Department of Agricultural, Food and Resource Economics, a research and teaching unit of the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences, is located on the scenic G. H. Cook Campus of
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey in New Brunswick, New Jersey. The department is housed in the Cook Office Building. The department offers undergraduate and graduate degrees, with some curricula offered jointly with sister departments such as Food Science and Human Ecology. Its tenure-track faculty conduct applied research in agricultural economics or related fields, regularly employing post-doctoral researchers and interacting with stakeholders at the state, national, or international levels.
The School and Experiment Station: The School of Environmental and Biological Sciences is deeply committed to the three land-grant missions of teaching, research, and extension. Our faculty integrate teaching, research, and outreach to address real-world problems and encourage students to adopt the same approach to their educational experience at Rutgers. The School has 15 academic departments, 3400 undergraduate students, and 300 graduate students. The School's current strategic plan can be accessed at
