Job Summary |
The Startup Studio at Auburn University provides free deliverables to early-stage student and
community entrepreneurs to help their businesses grow. These deliverables include small websites, apps, marketing collateral, and videos.
This role's primary focus is programming, which may involve building
MVP (Minimum Viable Product) apps, likely using the Flutter framework. The development work could include front-end and back-end tasks, but additional tools (Github co-pilot, etc.) and personnel can be provided to enhance development outcomes. One potential project of note is a mobile transportation app leveraging
NFC technology for tracking rider metrics.
Priority will be given to candidates with programming experience who can commit to 12+
hours per week, and although programming is the primary focus for this job, the selected candidate will be expected to be an active contributor who can work well with the broader team.
Work scheduling can be flexible to accommodate class schedules and other commitments.
Candidates selected for interviews should be prepared to demo/showcase or talk through some
of their previous development projects during the interview process. |
Essential Functions |
* Software development.
* Researching and learning best practices based on provided requirements and project needs.
* Problem solving for debugging and building new features.
* Explore new technologies, both software and hardware to enhance project outcomes.
* Ability to work individually as well as cooperatively with others.
* Assist with deliverable creation, communications, events and other duties as assigned. |
Minimum Qualifications |
Currently enrolled student at Auburn University. |
Preferred Qualifications |
Experience with mobile app development, preferably using the Flutter framework.
* Familiarity with front and back-end programming and leveraging open-source components.
* Exposure to using APIs in development projects.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
* Commitment and motivation to learn.
* Experience with source code management repositories such as Github.
* A strong eye for detail.
* Dependability, multi-tasking, and the ability to switch priorities based on departmental needs. |
Pay Rate |
$14.00 - $20.00 per hour |
Work Hours |
Up to 20hrs per week (with the possibility of more during the summer) |
