The College of Nursing is seeking a dynamic and supportive professional to meet the college's core values (ICARE): Integrity, Collaboration, Accountability, Respect and Excellence in working directly with nursing students. The Academic Specialist will improve Nursing students' academic performance through the delivery of a wide range of instructional support and intervention services with a focus on assessment of learning outcomes. The selected candidate will report to the Sr Assistant Dean of Student Affairs. Essential Functions
* Assess students' academic needs and proficiency, connect students to appropriate resources, and provide ongoing support as needed. * Liaison with campus Accessibility Resources. * Coordinate with faculty, advisors and staff to provide and support innovative programs that help students succeed. * Coordinate tutoring for students of all skills levels needing remedial instruction assistance. * Ensure policies and procedures are in place to address academic integrity. * Serve as liaison between faculty/other department personnel and students to coordinate approved absences. * May assist faculty to create assessment rubrics and set attainment targets for the different course learning outcomes. * May work with students on individualized educational plans and on development of learning skills. * May work with students to identify accommodations needed to meet learning skills. * May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.). * Perform related duties based on departmental need. Bachelors of Nursing Degree-BSN Required Trainings/Certifications
Valid unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) License Required Experience
Three (3) years of relevant experience to include previous teaching or tutoring experience. Additional Qualifications Considered
Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) Teaching experience in the clinical or classroom environment Application Process
