About this opportunity:
Ericsson and some of the world's largest telecom operators have announced a new venture to combine and sell network Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) on a global scale to spur innovation in digital services. The venture will drive implementation and access to common APIs from multiple telecom service providers to a broader ecosystem of developer platforms. We are seeking a General Counsel for the new venture, which will be 50% owned by Ericsson and 50% owned by telecom operators.
The newly formed company will provide network APIs to a broad ecosystem of developer platforms, including hyperscalers (HCPs), Communications Platform as a Service (CPaaS) providers, System Integrators (SIs) and Independent Software Vendors (ISVs), based on existing industry-wide CAMARA APIs (the open-source project driven by the GSMA and the Linux Foundation). Vonage and Google Cloud will partner with the new company, providing access to their ecosystems of millions of developers as well as their partners.
Why this role matters:
As NewCo grows its business across its core product offering and develops a robust developer and customer community, we need to build and implement a commercial legal approach that can scale with our ambitions and the expectations and needs of all of NewCo's investors. The Commercial Legal role will work with the business to draft and negotiate a wide range of technology transaction agreements, including supply and sales agreements. The role will also maintain and update existing templates and contracting processes and support and implement contract strategies for new product launches. The Commercial Legal role will also work with regulatory attorneys and specialists to develop contracting plans for addressing new and emerging laws and risks on the horizon, while ensuring strategic opportunities are supported with integrity, excellence, and in a timely manner.
What you will do:
- Develop and implement standardized contractual templates for procurement of goods and services on behalf of NewCo, CSPs, suppliers, and across all customer segments;
- Negotiate contracts on behalf of NewCo. Where necessary, the legal team will support complex and strategic transactions with our customers, partners, and suppliers worldwide on their paper;
- Be a trusted advisor to the leadership team on a range of commercial, compliance, privacy, and legal issues
- Identify and implement continuous improvements in the efficiency and efficacy of our processes.
- Managing other consultants and outside counsel, as required.
The skills you bring:
- 10+ years of experience working in in-house or a combination of law firm and in-house experience
- Expert legal skills
- Experience negotiating, drafting, and interpreting commercial technology agreements (sale and buy-side)
- Understanding of how legal terms translate to business impact.
- Familiarity with regulatory and data protection requirements in the US, the EU and the UK
- Demonstrated ability to identify and solve problems in a complex technology and business environment by creating simple, repeatable and actionable solutions and processes
- Results oriented, proactive, responsible, pragmatic and ethical person with a passion for technology and its societal impact.
- Experience with communication platforms as a service (CPaaS) and cloud based applications is a plus.

Your Pay
The salary range for this position is listed below. The actual salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, the candidate's combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience.
* Washington, DC: $198,700 - $260,000
STV: Your pay also includes the opportunity for an annual bonus. Actual bonus payouts are based on performance of the business against the unit's objectives, individual performance, and the individual bonus target. Certain eligibility and pro-ration rules apply.

Your Financial Security
We invest in both your short and long-term financial wellbeing. Ericsson's 401(k) plan offers an automatic 3% company contribution and up to a 4% company match, leading to a maximum company contribution of 7% annually. Employees will also receive company paid basic life and accidental death and dismemberment coverage and paid company short-term and long-term disability benefits. Employees also have the option to participate in Ericsson's Stock Purchase Plan.
Your Time
Your work-life balance is important to us. New employees are provided up to 40 days of paid time off per year, including 15 days of accrued annual vacation, 3 personal days, 11 paid holidays, 10 sick days, and 1 volunteer day. Please note paid time off is pro-rated based on the employee's start date. Those with additional vacation time at the end of the year may sell one week of vacation, equal to a week of pay. Furthermore, Ericsson provides up to 16 weeks of maternity/medical leave, 6 weeks of paternity or adoption leave at 100% of pay, and medical leave at 100% or 66 2/3% of pay, based on length of service.
