What do you do all day?

At NMSI, our people mean everything to us, they are the lifeblood of the organization. Without our staff, NMSI is just an idea. As a member of the Finance Team, the Financial Planning & Analysis Manager will play a critical role in supporting the functions that enable our team to do its best work. Specifically, the Manager will be involved in all aspects of the budget planning and forecasting process.

This role reports to the VP of Finance and is a full-time, remote position based out of anywhere in the contiguous U.S. Occasional travel is required for in-person meetings and conferences.

What are the details?



  • Partner with VP of Finance to plan, coordinate, and execute the annual budget process
  • Manage and implement the financial analysis and budget strategy developed by the VP of Finance.
  • Develop and maintain financial models to support strategic decision-making.
  • Assist with federal and private grant applications (required compliance forms, grant budgets)
  • Oversee the budget creation for all NMSI events.
  • Develop and maintain templates for program pricing and program budgets.
  • Provide monthly financial reports to all budget owners, including variance analysis.
  • Assist in the development of strategic initiatives by providing financial insights and analysis.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance financial processes and systems for greater efficiency and effectiveness
  • Conduct detailed financial analysis to support forecasting, and long-term financial planning.
  • Develop and maintain financial models to evaluate program performance and financial viability.
  • Provide analytical support to NMSI's teams, including developing internal reporting capabilities to support business decisions.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the general ledger and project structure of the NMSI's programs.
  • Assist with monthly allocations as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications

What are we looking for?



  • Education & Experience - You have at least 5 years of experience in financial analysis within the nonprofit sector. You also have experience with organizations with budgets that exceed $15 million. A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or business administration is a plus but not required.
  • Analytical - You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data. You also have proficiency in financial modeling and analysis tools, including Excel and financial software systems like Financial Edge.
  • Great Communicator - You have excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey financial information to diverse audiences.

What do we offer?

The starting salary range for this position is $82,711 to $95,118 and commensurate with related experience. We take pay equity seriously and work hard to ensure our team members are paid fairly regardless of their gender, race, or other demographic backgrounds. In addition to a competitive salary with the potential for an annual pay increase, we offer a comprehensive total rewards package, including paying roughly 78% of employee-only medical, dental, and vision benefits plus a large portion for dependents. Staff are eligible to participate in 401(k) after 90 days of employment, with up to a 6% employee match, fully vested on day one of participation in the plan. Other benefits for full-time employees include referral and performance-based annual bonuses, telecommunications stipends for eligible remote employees, 25 paid holidays annually (including a two-week-long winter break), and a generous PTO policy starting at 14 days per year.
