The High-Risk Leukemia Program Manager oversees the day-to-day clinical and academic operations of the High-Risk Leukemia program facilitating aligned clinical and academic programmatic goals. The role will be responsible for project leadership, operational management, and cross-functional coordination to support the strategic vision of clinical and laboratory research goals. It will include leading and oversight of business planning, budgeting, financial forecasting, implementing strategic initiatives, clinical trial coordination, and incorporating research projects. The position includes process improvement initiatives and ensuring adherence to program goals and institutional policies.

Essential Functions

Must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the hospital's policies and procedures, including its Service Standards and its Code of Conduct.

  • Leads the development and delivery of the High-Risk Leukemia Program at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford including program objectives and development of related policies and plans. Operationalizes department plans, including business, service and/or organizational priorities.

  • As the subject matter expert for the High-Risk Leukemia Program, serves as the liaison across stakeholders of the hospital to identify and resolve complex technical, operational, and organizational problems. Facilitates cross-functional team meetings specifically between clinical and research and ensures smooth hand-offs between clinical trials, regulatory departments, and research teams.

  • Manages the full range of the projects for the High-Risk Leukemia Program including initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, controlling, and closing across various disciplines. Tracks key project milestones using Gantt charts and dashboards to ensure progress

  • Facilitates discussions and negotiations to drive consensus on resource allocation and project scope, involving internal and external stakeholders, including PIs, faculty, and industry partners. Develops communication strategies to enhance internal and external program visibility, including outreach to professional societies and external stakeholders.

  • Guided by department objectives, sets priorities for the High-Risk Leukemia Program. Actively plans and drives cross-functional teams to deliver against plans and timelines as well as sets goals, generates plans to meet goals, and facilitates the completion of goals. Manages and allocates resources to align with business objectives.

  • Provide direction on intake projects, high-impact initiatives, and emerging critical items to maintain a balance between long-term goals and day-to-day priorities. Identifies and addresses potential barriers to project timelines and goals. Provides solutions to operational issues and proactively identify risks associated with ongoing and future projects.

  • Collaborates with Strategic Planning and Business Development teams to conduct financial and market research that supports business development and strategic growth initiatives for the program. Advises leadership on proposed strategic initiatives focused on improving the program's profitability and market presence.

  • Collaborates with leadership to develop and oversee project budgets, ensuring efficient allocation of resources, including funding, time, and labor. Monitor financial forecasts and compliance requirements. Coordinates analytic support, perform resource assessment and analysis, develop, and maintain an inventory for tracking requests. Analyzes data to help drive program performance.

  • Works with Program Medical Director Dyad and Service Line Director on financial forecasting, long-range planning, and resource allocation. Manages contracts and financial models for external partnerships and services related to research and clinical trials.

  • Serves as a subject matter expert and plays a critical role in determining the timing, sequencing, and scale of a variety of high priority, highly visible improvement efforts. Develops and leads comprehensive change management strategies to drive operational improvements across clinical, regulatory, and research teams. This includes creating standard operating procedures (SOPs) and training materials.

  • Participates in the development of program budget in partnership with Financial Planning and the Service Line Director. Ensures budget compliance with institutional standards and uses financial models and dashboards to track key metrics and inform decision-making. Implements financial controls and risk mitigation strategies to minimize revenue loss. Collaborates with leadership on mitigating risks related to resource constraints and funding limitations

  • Facilitate collaboration and planning of research initiatives under the scope of the program. Liaise with biobanking, IRB, SRC and other related entities. Provide project management for grants and seeks grant funding for program.

  • Develops internal and external communications to increase awareness of the program, including materials for public outreach, social media channels, and professional societies.

  • Assists with the recruitment, hiring, assignment of work, and performance feedback of staff.

  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.

Education: Bachelor's degree in a work-related field/discipline from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Five (5) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience preferably in healthcare, finance, academic or program management.

License/Certification: None required.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Knowledge of financial systems, budgeting, and analysis in healthcare or research settings.

  • Ability to develop and administer departmental budgets and track financial performance using dashboards and analytical tools.

  • Strong understanding of clinical research operations, regulatory requirements, and change management processes.

  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and foster effective working relationships.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for managing stakeholder relationships and presenting financial reports.

  • Must be capable of initiating change, empowering stakeholders and motivating others to achieve results.

  • Ability to exercise a high degree of initiative, judgement, discretion, and decision making.

  • Ability to instruct, persuade, negotiate, resolve conflicts resolution, consult and advise.

Pay Range

Compensation is based on the level and requirements of the role.

Salary within our ranges may also be determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities, as required by the role, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.

Typically, new team members join at the minimum to mid salary range.

Minimum to Midpoint Range (1.0 FTE): $118,476.80 to $157,081.60
