Overview

Are you looking for a highly rewarding opportunity that provides extensive career growth opportunity? The Mechanical Estimator is responsible for conceptualizing and interpreting the scope from incomplete or schematic documents for School Construction Authority projects.

Responsibilities:

Estimators at Gilbane are heavily involved in generating estimating deliverables required on projects. We are seeking an Estimator II that will work closely with the Special Projects team deliver services and will have the opportunity to assist with multiple projects at once. This person will also assist with estimates for our National Accounts. This role will sit primarily in the office, but may travel to the project job sites meeting with the project teams and subcontractors.

Responsibilities

As an Mechanical Estimator you will:

    Confer with a broad range of technical, professional and managerial personnel as well as designers, consultants and contractors to coordinate and establish detailed construction cost estimates
  • Ensure the preparation of detailed cost estimates for all phases of design and construction
  • Supervise the development of quantity surveys and cost evaluations relating to design documents, contract drawings, specifications or contract changes
  • Participate in cost negotiations with contractors for change orders


Qualifications

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

  • BS or MS degree in Engineering or Construction Management
  • 5+ years as Mechanical Estimator
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Site work software tools for take-offs
  • Basic understanding of conceptual estimating
  • Knowledge of Procore software
  • Strong written and verbal skills
  • Ability to work in a team based environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
  • Understanding of Contract Document & Specifications

Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.

For New York, NY this ranges from $120,000.00 - $135,000.00 plus benefits and retirement program.
