Role Description:

The Research Intern will conduct research focused on drinking water quality. This position involves field sampling, laboratory analysis, and the application of data analysis methods to assess the chemistry of water samples, providing valuable insights into water quality management.



Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

As a summer Intern, we will provide you with:



  • A real-world experience on exciting projects
  • Connections with recent college graduates and our company leaders
  • Performance of assignments under the direct supervision of a department lead
  • Performance of other work-related duties as needed



Your essential functions include, but are not limited to:



  • Conduct field sampling of drinking water from the distribution system.
  • Perform chemical analysis of water samples using handheld instrumentation.
  • Analyze collected data using statistical methods to draw meaningful conclusions about water quality.
  • Prepare reports on findings and share insights with the team.
  • Assist with ongoing research and documentation of water quality analysis.

Skills & Qualifications:

Required Skills & Qualifications



Required Experience:
Previous laboratory experience, including working with analytical instruments and conducting tests.
Basic understanding of water chemistry and water quality monitoring.
Minimum Education Requirements:
Must be currently enrolled fulltime in an undergraduate or graduate program
Must have at least 30 credit hours complete
Must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average
Required Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong data analysis skills, including the ability to interpret complex data sets.
Required Licenses & Certifications:
Not applicable
Physical Requirements:
Fieldwork involving outdoor water sampling and laboratory work with analytical equipment.


Preferred Skills & Qualifications



Preferred Experience:
Experience in data analysis, particularly using statistical tools for water quality data.
Experience in conducting research or working in laboratory environments focused on water quality.
Preferred Education Requirements:
Preferred Major: Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
Preferred Skills:
Proficiency in laboratory techniques and water quality analysis.
Familiarity with statistical software for analyzing research data.
