Role Description:

The Community Engagement Intern will support the outreach activities and assist with attending summer events and community outreach initiatives. This intern will play a key role in facilitating and coordinating engagement with the community, representing the organization at events, and helping strengthen relationships with local groups and stakeholders.



Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

As a summer Intern, we will provide you with:



  • A real-world experience on exciting projects
  • Connections with recent college graduates and our company leaders
  • Performance of assignments under the direct supervision of a department lead
  • Performance of other work-related duties as needed



Your essential functions include, but are not limited to:



  • Assist with planning and organizing community outreach events and activities.
  • Attend and represent the organization at summer outreach events.
  • Support the development of engagement strategies and initiatives.
  • Assist with community outreach documentation, including reports and feedback gathering.
  • Help build relationships with local groups, stakeholders, and participants in community events.

Required Skills & Qualifications



Required Experience:
Experience in community engagement, communications, or similar disciplines.
Minimum Education Requirements:
Must be currently enrolled fulltime in an undergraduate or graduate program
Must have at least 30 credit hours complete
Must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average
Required Skills:
Strong multi-tasking abilities.
Project management and organizational development skills.
Ability to work in teams and take initiative.
Ability to build positive rapport with community members and stakeholders.
Networking capabilities and relationship-building skills.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to work hard and handle physically demanding tasks.
Willingness to work during evenings and after-hours.
Ability to lift items when necessary.


Preferred Skills & Qualifications



Preferred Experience:
Prior experience in community engagement or communications roles.
Some project management experience is beneficial.
Preferred Education Requirements:
Preferred Majors: Community Engagement, Communications, Public Relations, or similar disciplines.
Preferred Skills:
Advanced project management, multi-tasking, and organizational skills.
Strong teamwork, leadership, and collaboration abilities.
Self-starter with a creative and out-of-the-box thinking approach.
