The Debt and Treasury Management team is seeking a motivated Finance Intern to join our team and assist in various financial activities within the organization. The intern will gain hands-on experience while supporting the finance team in tasks related to payment channels, bank reconciliations, investment reports, and more. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in finance to learn and develop practical skills, while contributing to key financial functions. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, a willingness to learn, and an interest in gaining insight into different financial areas.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: |
As a summer Intern, we will provide you with:
- A real-world experience on exciting projects

- Performance of assignments under the direct supervision of a department lead
- Performance of other work-related duties as needed
Your essential functions include, but are not limited to:
- Understand the business and familiarize yourself with over 13 different payment methods used within the organization.
- Gain knowledge of payment data flow from both banking and system perspectives, understanding how transactions move through various systems.
- Perform basic bank reconciliations within the Oracle Cash Management system, ensuring the accuracy of financial records.
- Assist with monthly investment reports provided by the financial advisor, including generating journal entries from the SYMPRO-Investment system (accrued interest, unrealized gains/losses, interest received, and changes in value).
- Familiarize yourself with monthly debt journal entries generated from the SYMPRO-Debt system, supporting the finance team in managing debt-related financial records.
- Support the team in searching for relevant financial data and generating reports as needed.
- Gain an understanding of other functions within the finance department, such as accounting and budgeting, when time allows.
- Assist with other ad-hoc financial tasks and special projects as assigned by the finance team.

Required Experience: |
Basic understanding of financial principles and practices. |
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including the use of formulas and basic data analysis. |
Experience in an academic setting that includes exposure to financial concepts or coursework in finance/accounting. |
Minimum Education Requirements: |
Must be currently enrolled fulltime in an undergraduate or graduate program |
Must have at least 30 credit hours complete |
Must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average |
Required Skills: |
Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in financial data and reporting. |
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data organization, analysis, and report generation. |
Ability to work independently and collaborate with team members. |
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively communicate findings and results. |
Willingness to learn and develop new skills in the finance field. |
