General Description:

Maintains utilities and equipment in a safe and operational status. Fires boilers and monitors boiler output to ensure a constant supply of steam. Performs daily boiler water test and treatment to prevent harmful deposits from interfering with boiler safety, efficiency and longevity.

Responsibilities:

  • Tours boiler rooms and mechanical rooms to ensure that operation and status is in accord with specified instructions.
  • Communicates with other maintenance workers and supervisors any change in status of the equipment, valve, switches or devices.
  • Preliminary responder to all maintenance calls making repairs whenever possible.
  • Informs supervisor whenever a repair is required which maintenance person cannot shift.
  • Shall acquire a special license to operate high-pressure boilers and will operate said boilers in a manner which satisfies all applicable state regulations and manufactures instructions.
  • Maintains and performs all preventative maintenance records and documents all actions and/or repairs.
  • Performs other duties as needed to maintain a safe environment for all patients, employees and general public.

Work Experience/Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in general maintenance position required.
  • Advanced knowledge in carpentry, technical repair or other specialty area preferred.

Education:

  • Minimum of a High School diploma or GED.
