Duties & Responsibilities:



  • The Access Control Specialist (ACS) shall provide support with visitor identification, clearance verification, visitor access control, security checks, and security escorts for various individuals
  • The Access Control Specialist shall escort visitors having official business but who do not have at least a secret-level security clearance or a specific sponsor within the building. For those people whom have a specific sponsor, the Access Control Specialist shall notify the contact that the visitor is waiting in the lobby.
  • The ACS shall issue appropriate badges to all visitors entering
  • The ACS shall maintain Authorized Personnel list and enable badge access for those personnel meeting established Security and Program requirements.
  • The ACS shall ensure visitors present a valid photo identification or passport, verifying their identity as part of the visitor access process.
  • The ACS shall collaborate between internal and external customers in obtaining missing documents which require routed signatures.
  • The ACS shall work with NATO control officers and PERSEC security staffing to obtain signatures on official government documents (SF-312, SF-86c)
  • The ACS shall perform miscellaneous and administrative support functions as directed by the site lead.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):



  • Ability to understand procedures for verifying photo IDs, passports, and other forms of identification.
  • Working knowledge of the regulations, policies, principles and procedures
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate security information in accordance with guidelines and recommend changes or modifications to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Knowledge of Federal security laws and regulations as well as ACS policies to interpret and apply such guidelines, manage and/or enhance existing security program activities.
  • Exceptional communication skills to interact effectively with customers and to present oral and written reports to officials.
  • Capable of utilizing Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat at a minimum to prepare statistical information and analysis.


Minimum/General Experience:

Four (4) years of experience in:



  • Maintaining access control software and databases to buildings, personnel, and property (e.g. Velocity, DISS).
  • Creation of temporary access
  • Develop and maintain attendance rosters and after-action reports for special events
  • Maintaining operation logs and employee


Two (2) years of experience:



  • Processing all incoming and outgoing visit
  • Clearance verifications


One (1) year experience:



  • Experience utilizing secure file transfer systems (e.g. DOD Safe).
  • Coding Access Control Cards (e.g. CAC, HID).
  • Conducting audits of security documentation during military, civilian, and contractor check-ins.
  • Verification of required documentation and/or collection of any missing documents.


Minimum Education:



  • HS Diploma or GED and four years of experience in Access
