We are looking for a Dir, Product Management to help own the vision, strategy, and execution of an innovative API management platform, driving innovation and delivering value to enterprise customers, developers, and partners. This role involves defining the product roadmap, and ensuring scalability, security, and performance. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including engineering, sales, and marketing, you will help to align product development with market trends and customer needs. With a strong focus on customer-centricity, team leadership, and measurable outcomes, you will play a critical part in expanding the API ecosystem, enabling business growth, and maintaining the company's competitive position.

Responsibilities

  • Define and be responsible for the product vision and strategy for the API management product, aligning it with the company's overall goals and market trends.

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive product roadmap, prioritizing features and initiatives based on customer needs, market demands, and business goals.

  • Stay ahead of industry trends in the API economy and find opportunities for innovation and differentiation in the API management space.

  • Collaborate with engineering and design teams to deliver high-quality features and products on time, ensuring alignment with the roadmap and customer requirements.

  • Drive the entire API lifecycle management process, from design and development to security, deployment, monitoring, and monetization.

  • Lead all aspects of the creation of scalable, reliable, and secure API solutions that meet the needs of enterprise customers, partners, and developers.

  • Serve as the voice of the customer, capturing and analyzing feedback from users, developers, and partners to advise product decisions.

  • Identify and address key customer difficulties in API design, management, and integration, ensuring the product delivers measurable value.

  • Partner with sales and customer success teams to understand customer adoption patterns and improve retention and satisfaction.

  • Act as a key liaison between engineering, marketing, sales, and customer support teams, ensuring alignment across all functions.

  • Work closely with marketing teams to define go-to-market strategies, positioning, and messaging for the API management product.

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to balance technical feasibility with business priorities, ensuring efficient resource allocation.

  • Regularly present product updates, strategies, and results to executive leadership, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

  • Act as a leader with vision and advocate for the API management product in internal discussions and external forums.

Required Qualifications

  • A related technical degree required

  • 8-10+ years of product management experience in software or technology-focused companies, with a consistent track record in API management or integration platforms.

  • Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams and running sophisticated product portfolios in a technical domain.

  • Solid understanding of APIs, including their design, lifecycle management, security (e.g., OAuth, OpenID), and monetization strategies.

  • Familiarity with modern software development practices, including microservices architectures, cloud computing (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), and DevOps principles.

  • Hands-on experience with API platforms, tools, or technologies such as MuleSoft, Apigee, Kong, Postman, Swagger, or AWS API Gateway.

  • Knowledge of REST, SOAP, GraphQL, and emerging API standards.

  • Ability to communicate sophisticated technical concepts to non-technical partners effectively.

  • Demonstrated ability to build and implement a comprehensive product strategy and roadmap, aligned with customer needs and market opportunities.

  • Consistent track record of delivering products that drive measurable business impact, including customer adoption, revenue growth, or market share expansion.

  • Deep understanding of the API economy and trends, such as API monetization, partner ecosystems, and enterprise integration needs.

  • Experience leading and mentoring product teams, fostering professional growth, and building high-performing teams.

  • Exceptional skills in cross-functional collaboration, including working closely with engineering, sales, marketing, and customer success teams.

  • Consistent record navigating collaborator alignment and communicating effectively with C-suite executives and external partners.

  • Proficiency in using data analytics and customer feedback to prioritize product features and measure product success.

  • Strong user emotional intelligence and ability to advocate for customer needs, ensuring product features address real-world problems and bring value.

  • Proven track record to handle multiple priorities, deliver high-quality products on time, and achieve key performance indicators.

  • Experience with Agile and Lean development methodologies, including handling backlogs, sprint planning, and product delivery cycles.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create and present compelling cases.

  • Familiarity with compliance and security considerations for APIs, particularly in regulated industries (e.g., finance, healthcare).

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, innovative environment, with a focus on delivering results

In office expectations are 36 days/a quarter to support customers and/or collaborate with their teams.

Pursuant to the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance and the Los Angeles Fair Chance Initiative for Hiring, Salesforce will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records. For Washington-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $211,500 to $306,600. For California-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $230,800 to $334,600. Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Certain roles may be eligible for incentive compensation, equity, benefits.
