Job Summary:

The Department of Soil and Environmental Sciences at University of Wisconsin Madison is seeking a Lecturer who shares our passion for soil and environmental science education to lead the instruction of lecture-based classes in Soil and Environmental Sciences and to join our team of teachers, extension specialists, and researchers in the department.

Responsibilities will include teaching Soil Sci 430 Environmental Soil Contamination (taught in the fall semester) and additional instruction responsibilities may include Interag 321 and Nut Sci 421 courses (taught in the spring semester) or other courses as per departmental needs and expertise and interests of the candidate. The teaching faculty member will provide for-credit instruction in formats such as classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction, including grading, and serve as an instructor of record for the courses. They will assist with the design and execution of administrative functions associated with academic instruction and the development of assessment tools and resources to support student learning.

Responsibilities:
Facilitates classroom, online, and/or laboratory instruction and assists with instructional development and design for a single course or series of courses within an academic discipline to support the delivery of quality instruction. Provides for-credit instruction in formats such as classroom, online and/or laboratory settings, including grading. Serves as an instructor of record.

  • 60% Facilitates classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction for one or more courses, including assessment of student performance
  • 30% Develops instructional design and curriculum relevant to a course of instruction
  • 10% Serves as an initial point of contact for students as it relates to specific course or series content and expectations

Required
Master's Degree
Field off soil and environmental science or related field preferred


Qualifications:

Required Qualifications
Experience related to contaminants including lead, pesticides, and mercury that are found in soil and water.
Experience in teaching in higher education.
Experience with various formats of instruction (online, in-person, etc.)
Experience developing course curriculum and relevant materials.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in a federal or state agency


Work Type:

Part Time: 50%

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Salary:

Minimum $75,000 ACADEMIC (9 months)
Depending on Qualifications
The anticipated salary range for this position is $75,000 - $85,000. However, final salary will depend on experience and qualifications. Employees in this position can expect to receive benefits such as generous vacation, holidays, and paid time off; competitive insurances and savings accounts; retirement benefits.
