Responsibilities
Job Summary
The Specialist, DM Engagement is responsible for implementing and overseeing programs that foster community involvement and volunteerism. This role involves coordinating events, building partnerships with community organizations, and promoting initiatives that address social determinants of health. The coordinator will work closely with volunteers, stakeholders, and other staff to enhance community well-being and ensure the success of engagement activities. The Community Engagement Coordinator plays a crucial role in strengthening community ties, fostering volunteerism, and promoting programs that enhance the overall health and well-being of the community.
- Serve as a liaison between the organization and the community, addressing inquiries, providing information about programs and services, and conducting Desert Mission tours.
- Recruit, train and support Food Bank production and Special Events volunteers to support DM programs and initiatives. Develop volunteer engagement strategies and relationships to ensure retention and satisfaction. Coordinate Food Bank Production and Special Events volunteer schedules and assignments, ensuring effective utilization of volunteer resources.
- Establish and maintain relationships with community organizations, local businesses, and other stakeholders. Represent the organization at community events, meetings, and other outreach activities.
- Organize content for collateral, media, and other communication platforms to inform and engage the community.
- Assists in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of assigned special events and activities.
Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma or GED Required
Experience
Nonprofit communications, fundraising or program development
Comfortable with public speaking/speaking to large and small crowds.
Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
Excellent Human Relations and oral/written communication skills. Required
