Policy Advisor on Conflict Related Sexual Violence (CSRV) and Atrocity Prevention (AP) The Policy Advisor on Conflict Related Sexual Violence will contribute to the development of the US National Action Plan on Gender Based Violence and its maintenance. This position requires an active secret clearance. Compensation & Benefits: Pay commensurate with experience. Wage starts at $110,000 to $150,000 annually Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K and other possible benefits as provided. Benefits are subject to change with or without notice. Policy Advisor on Conflict Related Sexual Violence (CSRV) and Atrocity Prevention (AP) Responsibilities Include:
- Contributes to the development of the first-ever U.S. National Action Plan on Gender-Based Violence
- Updates the U.S. Strategy to Prevent and Respond to GBV Globally
- Refugee and/or Significant Public Benefit Parole processing.
- Works with experts in the atrocity prevention community at State and across the inter-agency to ensure gender priorities are incorporated throughout.
- Collaborates with GWI regional policy advisors on AP priorities
- Priorities include refugee and/or Significant Public Benefit Parole (SPBP) issues and processing, communicating details of the refugee or SPBP programs, gathering personal information from applicants, and entering data into appropriate databases.
- Priority countries include Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Burma, China, and others
- Reports to the GBV and Cross-Cutting Senior Policy Advisor
- Operates as part of a team, working closely with relevant experts within S/GWI and the Department
- Interacts with senior and working level officials as well as interagency contacts and posts.
- Prepares and drafts briefing papers, talking points, and/or speeches, as needed.
- Leads efforts to integrate gender policy through U.S. foreign policy globally, working closely with the White House, Congress, and other U.S. government agencies as well as the intra-agency community.
- Represents S/GWI at various intra or inter agency meetings
- Responsible for maintaining relationships and coordination with a wide array of stakeholders.
Policy Advisor on Conflict Related Sexual Violence (CSRV) and Atrocity Prevention (AP) Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
- Master's Degree in political science, foreign affairs, economics, law, or a similar field
- Minimum 5 years' experience in international politics/foreign policy, immigration, research & evaluation, social science, or other related fields.
- Experience with leadership in policy analysis, development, and coordination on security, human rights, gender, or economic policy
- Possesses a high attention to detail and commitment to working on behalf of women and girls in duress.
- Strong skills in communication, policy formulation, and multi-stakeholder coordination to promote the rights and empowerment of women and girls through U.S. foreign policy as a policy advisor on conflict-related sexual violence and atrocity prevention
- Demonstrable track record of leadership in policy analysis, development, and coordination on security, human rights, gender, and/or humanitarian and immigration issues
- Prepare draft briefing papers, talking points, and/or speeches, as needed.
- English language (written and spoken) communication skills
- Ability to solve problems and encourage consistent, solid performance
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, coordinate activities in multiple locations, act decisively in daily work, and work well in a multi-cultural team environment.
- Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, and computer skills. Ability to work independently to assess priorities and manage daily coordination of details with minimal supervision
- Ability to successfully pass preemployment
