COMSEC Lead The COMSEC Lead serves as the primary point personnel for the team of COMSEC custodians across all three NNSA COMSEC accounts and will manage and coordinate the COMSEC activity associated with these accounts. The COMSEC lead will ensure the COMSEC activity is in line with Federal NNSA and DOE COR COMSEC expectations. This individual will help to initiate, plan and direct the activities of the COMSEC custodians, and will interface with key stakeholders of the NNSA COMSEC discipline, including IT Operations, Federal Cyber and IT Operations individuals to execute the NNSA COMSEC mission. As required by our governmental client, this position requires being a US Citizen AND an active DOE Q, Top Secret, or Secret clearance or the ability to obtain a TS/Sensitive Compartmental Information (SCI) clearance to be considered. Compensation & Benefits: Estimated Starting Salary Range for COMSEC Lead: $125,000 to $175,000 Pay commensurate with experience. Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, and other possible benefits as provided. Benefits are subject to change with or without notice. COMSEC Lead Responsibilities Include:
- Manage and oversee primary and alternate COMSEC custodians across the NNSA OCIO accounts.
- Ensuring the proper receipt, custody, safeguarding, accounting, and destruction of COMSEC material across all specified COMSEC locations.
- Coordinate the installation, configuration, maintenance, and accounting for all Taclanes, Secure Telephone Units (STU), Secure Terminal Equipment (STE), vIPers under the responsibility of the NNSA OCIO local account.
- Where necessary, provide guidance and instruction for hands-on installation, maintenance, configuration and troubleshooting of COMSEC equipment required.
- Provide oversight and coordination of the record management, tracking and inventory of all COMSEC material.
- Ensure the coordination of training and certification of local and remote COMSEC site personnel.
- Ensure coordination of Cryptographic products and key material ordering and shipping.
- Work with Federal COMSEC oversight and key COMSEC stakeholders to schedule and coordinate installations across NNSA OCIO-supported locations.
- Ensure the support of Secure Information Exchange (SIMEX) systems and other encrypted communication channels to provide customers a method for secure transmission of materials and information.
- Formally and informally present information in group and individual settings Performs other job-related duties as assigned
COMSEC Lead Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
- Candidates will also possess a Bachelor's Degree and appropriate background and knowledge of current industry technologies/standards for enterprise networks. Four (4) years of work experience in COMSEC related field may be considered as substitution for a degree, or a combination of relevant work experience and education may be considered.
- Candidates will have a minimum of five (5) years of work experience in a COMSEC-related field.
- Experience in upgrading cryptographic device firmware and interoperability of firmware versions between enterprise encryptors.
- Experience in the programming and operational functions of approved key fill devices.
- Prior experience in maintaining COMSEC accounts and materials, or industry certifications on the maintenance of COMSEC materials such as Taclanes and STEs may be substituted for education or experience.
- Must be knowledgeable of fundamental networking concepts to assist in the management and basis troubleshooting of cryptographic gear and secure networks.
- Must have strong attention to detail
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint)
- Effective verbal and written communication and presentation skills
- Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently, as well as strong interpersonal skills that foster the ability to work effectively on teams, communicate effectively
- Strong leadership abilities
- Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
