Responsibilities Job Summary The non-ACGME accredited Interventional Cardiology Fellow Year 2 (PGY8) is completing a 2nd unaccredited year of training focused on structural cardiology intervention. This position is a dual-role position which entails partial independent practice as a board certified (ABIM/AOBIM) cardiologist who holds full medical licensure in Arizona, HonorHealth Medical Staff privileges and is eligible to bill for services. Interventional Fellow Year 2 (PGY8) will dedicate partial time to the advancement of medical knowledge, technical skills, and patient care for structural cardiology interventions (TAVR, TEER, LAAC and mitral valve therapies). While training position as Fellow Year 2, the fellow physician functions under the auspices of and is appointed to the program by the Fellowship Director. The Interventional Cardiology Fellow Year 2 (PGY8) must meet or exceed specialty-specific Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) milestone competencies and training commensurate with their level of training. Fellow must demonstrate continued acquisition of skills and competencies which are essential for progression to graduate and transition to independent practice in areas of medical knowledge, professionalism, systems-based practice, practice-based learning and improvement, well-being and patient safety. The Fellow Year 2 (PGY8) is responsible for providing supervision and teaching to junior fellows, residents, and medical students in accordance with ACGME requirements and as deemed appropriate by the faculty and or Fellowship Director who is ultimately responsible for the patient's plan of care.
