The MGH NMMI Quality Assurance Specialist reports to the MGH NMMI Quality Assurance Manager and facilitates the MGB Radiology quality assurance program for the modality of Molecular Imaging across the MGH and MGB enterprise. The specialist aids the modality QA manager in establishing, developing, assessing, implementing, and monitoring all imaging quality to ensure consistent, standardized, high-quality imaging is delivered appropriately to the right patient, at the right time, and according to their individual needs across Molecular imaging locations. Assists in educating the staff technologists on scanning technology, protocols, and procedures. The specialist assists in recognizing and implementing actions related to quality concerns and performance. Maintains technical ability by providing direct patient care as needed. Operations: Assisting the QA Manager in partnering with local leaders and subject matter experts (SMEs), responsible for implementing and sustaining standardizedexam protocols, procedures, and practices for Nuclear Medicine/Molecular Imaging (NMMI) across the enterprise. Assists in maintaining centralized enterprise solutions (including but not limited to centralized guidance on quality control, regulatory requirements, dose monitoring, and imaging protocol guidance) to reduce duplication, risks, and expenses, increase efficiency, and support the entire enterprise. Attends meetings on behalf of the QA Manager, as needed. Performs other duties and special projects as assigned. The Specialist collaborates with site operations and vendors to support application training to ensure consistency in imaging protocols and staff messaging. Accreditation Compliance: In collaboration with QA managers, facilitates the process for the American College of Radiology (ACR) initial and renewal accreditation on all applicable scanners across MGH and the enterprise; maintains scanner quality control to meet additional third-party agency requirements, including but not limited to: The Joint Commission, Centers for Medicare/Medicaid (CMS), Department of Public Health (DPH), etc.,. Technical Support: Partnering with local leaders, modality experts, medical/service chiefs, NMMI QA Manager, and NMMI Operations to support ongoing enterprise standardization efforts. Collaborates with leaders and vendors to collect and analyze quantitative and qualitative statistical data to identify and resolve technical issues or inefficiencies. Analytics, Reporting, Monitoring: The QA specialist assists in reporting identified metrics to ensure continuous quality across the enterprise. The specialist also assists local managers in responding to and acting on Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) reports.

Associate's in Diagnostic medical Imaging technology, or equivalent required Bachelor's preferred ARRT(NM) or NMTCB Massachusetts State Radiologic Technologist License. Licensed Categories: Nuclear Medicine ARRT RT (CT) or NMTCB (CT) BLS (within 90 days) 2-3 Advanced modality scanning experience- Molecular Imaging required Interpersonal Skills sufficient to interact effectively with patients, patient families, departmental staff, leadership, medical staff, and other hospital personnel; present a positive and professional appearance and attitude; demonstrate flexibility and willingness to adapt to diverse roles as a departmental team member. The QA specialist must be able to use independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative under pressure in various situations. Must have analytical skills necessary to utilize advanced knowledge of imaging processes effectively, assist in developing practices, protocols, and procedures, ensure compliance, and evaluate equipment, and familiarity with quality standards and processes to follow federal, state, and local regulations.. Ability to adapt to changing paces (stressful situations) within the department. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to review systems, identify quality issues, and propose solutions to correct quality errors Possess a basic understanding of DICOM, Networks, Image distribution, and requlatory requirements related to the modality. Ability to adapt to multiple work environments and flexibility to work from numerous locations, possibly multiple locations within a given week, across the enterprise. Must be aware of hazards within the department (i.e. ionizing radiation, MRI safety zones, etc.) and adhere to safety standards established by MGB and affiliates and regulatory agencies; ensuring staff are also knowledgeable and comply to policies associated to department hazards.
