IXL Learning, developer of personalized learning products used by millions of people globally, is seeking a Video Editor to create a wide range of quality video content to support our growing marketing efforts.The ideal candidate is highly creative, innovative, collaborative and passionate about creating best-in-class video experiences across our brands. #LI-FA1

As a member of our in-house video team, you will be responsible for creating inspiring video content that advances our brand presence and engages with our key audiences: Educators, parents, and students. From how-to videos, product ads, customer testimonials, to social content and more, you will take a hands-on approach and own much of the post-production process from start to finish. Your passion for storytelling-along with your impressive editing chops-will successfully address our customers' needs and our high-reaching marketing goals.

This is a full-time position in our San Mateo, CA headquarters office.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Edit highly engaging short and long-form video content including live action testimonials, animated how-to videos, promos, ads and more with a mix of text, graphics, animations, and audio
  • Work both independently and as a collaborative team player, partnering with a solid team of marketers, product managers and more to bring shared visions to life, source assets, and hone in on the perfect story in the edit
  • Champion fresh ideas that prioritize storytelling and visual styles that elevate our brand presence and speak to our core values
  • Capture and integrate clean screen recordings that present our products in the best light
  • Ideate and build content templates and formats that are scalable
  • Curate and organize footage, music, and media for assembly edits and multiple formats
  • Work with the video team to continuously refine and improve our post-production standards and processes
  • Work closely with the Video Production Manager to ensure edits are reviewed and projects are prioritized
  • Opportunity to support other tasks as needed, such as developing video content ideas and assisting on video shoots


WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • BA/BS degree
  • 2-4 years of solid video editing experience in a professional environment
  • Visual skills: Your work demonstrates a strong grasp of graphic design principles and you have solid experience editing high quality graphics-heavy videos
  • Editing skills: Your portfolio demonstrates a strong understanding and application of the fundamentals of video editing including pacing, rhythm, compression of time, and the deliberate use of transitions and audio cues to influence story
  • You are an accomplished team player as much as you are a resourceful self-starter-you jump at the chance to support your team and proactively work to get the job done and delivered on time
  • Communication: You excel at explaining your work, talking through internal feedback, collaborating on ideas and proactively reaching out to stakeholders for guidance and review
  • Problem solver: You welcome innovation and risk-taking, always eager to learn new techniques and where you can be more efficient when faced with creative challenges
  • Technical expertise: You're a fast, efficient, organized editor and you're an expert with Premiere Pro
  • Technical proficiency: You know your way around After Effects, Media Encoder, Audition, Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Audio skills: You understand the important role audio plays in every project, from sourcing music tracks and procuring voice-overs to creating a clean mix
  • You are driven by an attention to detail and the desire for a flawless final product
  • Experience in other areas of video production, including lighting and/or filming is a plus
  • Experience in the education, edtech, or language learning spaces is a plus


Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The base salary range for this full-time position is $70,000 to $85,000 + benefits. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
