The Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT) Technologist acts as a critical member of the patient care team within the department, collaborates fully with the other care team members in assuring continuity of care for their patients. The PFT Tech promotes a philosophy of patient/family-focused care in all interactions with patients, families, and hospital personnel with a focus on understanding and meeting customer needs. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to gain direct patient care experience if planning further education in the medical field (Med/PA/NP school).
Coach patients through diagnostic pulmonary testing to include:
Maintain & calibrate various types of PFT equipment. Assist in the technical training of newly hired technologists Maintains annual competencies of technical skills Report and participate in troubleshooting for any equipment/software maintenance or performance issues. Stocks testing areas with supplies. Maintains competencies for point-of-care testing Maintain a clean and safe environment for testing. Follow all hospital infection control policies. Document testing accurately in ComPAS and Epic. Active participation in regular meetings and educational opportunities. Maintain a respectful, patient-focused environment of care. All other duties assigned.
