Funded by MGB's United Against Racism Equity Improvement Program initiative, the resource specialist will work with the UAR funded Psychiatry Substance Use Disorders project team to support Black patients' access to and retention in substance use treatment in MGB's outpatient addiction clinics. The resource specialist will help facilitate the referrals of Black patients from various clinics including primary care and Bridge clinics to the West End Clinic (Massachusetts General Hospital) and the Outpatient Addiction Recovery Program (Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital under Brigham Psychiatric Services). The resource specialist will also provide appointment and resource support to Black patients during their course of treatment in the clinics
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Working with UAR-funded Psychiatry Substance Use Disorders (UAR Psych SUDS) Equity project team:
Supporting Black patient referrals to Outpatient Addiction Recovery Program (ARP) and West End Clinic (WEC):
Supporting Black patient care for patients at ARP and WEC:
SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED: The position requires a high degree of flexibility, independence, and willingness to participate in multiple activities that provide support to patients. Strong communication skills and the ability to converse comfortably with patients, as well as with clinical and administrative staff are needed.
