Position: Quality, Safety and Compliance Manager

Department: Line Maintenance

Location: Fully Remote (U.S.)

Reports To: Director of Quality, Safety & Accountable Manager

Salary Range: $75,000 - $85,000

DOT/Non-DOT: DOT

License Required: None


Summary/Objective

As the Quality, Safety, and Compliance Manager, you will have a direct impact on the safety and regulatory success of STS Line Maintenance. You will evaluate reports, coordinate activities, and communicate outcomes to internal and external business leaders. Your role will involve leading quality, safety, and security investigations, and partnering with leadership to enhance risk management processes across the organization.


Essential Functions

  • Quality, Safety, and Security Programs: Assist in developing, implementing, and monitoring STS Line Maintenance's quality, safety, and security programs.
  • Training & Development: Help develop and revise safety, air carrier, and compliance SOPs. Ensure employees receive the necessary training and certification.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Assist in evaluating repair stations for regulatory compliance and ensure adherence to aviation safety and quality standards.
  • Auditing & Risk Management: Develop and maintain an annual audit schedule. Conduct audits throughout the system in line with international and FAA requirements.
  • Safety Management: Share responsibility for administering the Safety Management System (SMS) and chair the Safety Committee meetings as needed.
  • Incident Investigation: Investigate safety incidents and accidents, perform risk assessments, and implement corrective or preventative actions as necessary.
  • Reporting & Communication: Provide regular reports on program status and compliance, identifying concerns and trends across stations and presenting visual aids for management.

Competencies and Knowledge

  • Ability to understand and navigate aircraft, quality, SMS, and company manuals.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, maintenance software, and web navigation.
  • Strong communication skills with a keen eye for detail and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Advocacy for Quality, Safety & Compliance and embracing STS's Safety Management System.
  • Experience with 145 and 121 operations, and regulatory compliance challenges.

Supervisory Responsibility

  • This is not a supervisory position.

Work Environment

  • Fully Remote position based in the United States.
  • This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, and filing systems.
  • Climate-controlled unless auditing stations.

Physical Demands

  • This is a largely sedentary role but requires occasional standing, walking, and climbing stairs. Employees may lift up to 25 lbs.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

  • Full-time. Days and hours of work are determined by the Director of Quality.

Travel

  • Travel required as per internal audit schedule (TBD).

Required Education and Experience

  • Associates degree in aircraft maintenance, engineering, or other aviation-related fields.
  • 4 years of experience performing aircraft maintenance.
  • Aviation auditor training preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Word & Excel.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Must have strong critical thinking and organizational skills.
  • Must pass a criminal background check and a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Must hold a valid driver's license and have no MVR issues in the past 3 years.
  • Ability to develop and author regulatory content.
  • Time management, organization, and problem-solving skills are a must.

Security Clearance

All employees are required to pass the fingerprint-based criminal history records check (CHRC) per 49CFR1542.209 as well as a pre-employment drug screen.
