The Associated Press seeks anexperienced news producer with a track record of strong videostorytelling to work on our global output of daily video, to be based in Los Angeles. In this role, you will work closely with the video production team and collaborate with global AP staff across formats to deliver engaging journalism that serves our customers and helps grow AP's audience. You also will review video edits and scripts as a sub-editor, crafting sharp headlines and punchy leads. This is a staff position covered by AP's agreement with the News Media Guild. Responsibilities: Reporting to the deputy director of video production, you will be a key participant in the production of our digital video content used by AP customers who rely on us to cover stories anywhere in the world. You'll edit story elements creatively to produce strong visual narratives for a digital audience; exercise excellent news judgment when making editorial decisions; and write relevant storylines and shot lists with speed and accuracy. You will be expected to edit breaking news videos from live feeds, on deadline. You'll also offer guidance and support to video producers on editorial and technical standards, including best practices in storyline writing and video editing structure. In addition, the job requires using social media as a newsgathering tool. Familiarity with visual verification techniques is a plus. You must have the ability and willingness to work at night and on weekends, as coverage demands, as AP is a 24/7 operation.

This position is covered by The Associated Press' contract with the News Media Guild, which provides for an annual salary for Class A staff of between $52,046 and $82,934 based on location and years of professional experience.
