Job Purpose:

We are seeking an experienced leader with a strong background in yield optimization to join our PCB organization at San Jose, CA as the Director of Yield Improvement. This role demands a strategic thinker with a good academic foundation and practical experience in driving yield enhancement initiatives. The ideal candidate will leverage their technical acumen, problem-solving skills and management expertise to lead cross-functional teams in achieving operational excellence. The candidate will champion initiatives that enhance yield, optimize processes, improve product reliability, quality and drive organizational success.

Nature of Duties/Responsibilities:



  1. Strategic Yield Improvement

    • Develop and execute comprehensive yield improvement strategies to improve production yield and reduce scrap rates across all PCB manufacturing lines.
    • Analyze and resolve yield-related issues using data-driven methodologies.


  2. Process Improvement and Optimization

    • Drive root cause analysis and implement process changes to address the yield loss issues.
    • Collaborate with R&D, engineering, and production teams to optimize materials, processes and equipment for better yields.


  3. Leadership and Team Management

    • Lead and inspire cross-functional teams to achieve yield improvement objectives.
    • Work closely with customers to address technical challenges and implement effective solutions while coordinating with suppliers as needed.


  4. Data Analytics and Reporting

    • Analyze production data to uncover trends, identify bottlenecks, and prioritize improvement initiatives.
    • Generate reports and present actionable insights to executive management.


  5. Technical Expertise

    • Drive innovation by introducing advanced methodologies such as SPC, Six Sigma or machine learning in yield analytics.
    • Stay updated on industry advancements in materials, equipment and processes relevant to PCB manufacturing.


  6. Training and Development

    • Mentor team members on best practices in yield analysis, troubleshooting and process improvements.




Education and Experience



  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Material Science, Mechanical Eng., or a related field (Master's desirable not essential).
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in semiconductor industries, with a significant focus on yield improvement role.
  • At least 3 years in a leadership role, managing and driving cross-functional teams toward success.
  • Knowledge of reliability engineering, failure analysis techniques and root cause analysis methodologies (e.g. Fishbone diagram, FMEA, Pareto Analysis, 8D).
  • Extensive experience in one or more of the following areas: PCB materials, semiconductors, manufacturing processes or yield-critical parameters.
  • Expertise in yield analysis tools and methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, SPC, DOE).
  • Proficiency in statistical software and data analytics platforms (e.g. minitab, Tableau).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage projects effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.


Salary Range(annual): $150,000.00 - $185,000.00- Actual base pay within this range (determined at the offer stage) will be based on a candidate's years of relevant work experience, education, certifications, and skills, and is just one element of our total rewards package. The total rewards package also includes a variety of benefits, including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business and, depending on the role, may include eligibility for restricted stock unit awards and participation in a discretionary bonus program.
