The Data & AI Research & Insights team focuses on the intersection between data and AI. We support product strategy, user experience, and customer success across for Agentforce, Salesforce's biggest product initiative.

We are seeking a Lead/Principal Researcher who can distill complex problems into insights that inform product, design, development and business decisions! The ideal candidate will have domain expertise in AI platforms, data management, and enterprise AI adoption - think AI guardrails and governance, agent building and observability, and emerging AI UX patterns. This role will have to work cross-functionally across highly technical teams, helping to root strategy in action, manage collaborative efforts across multiple research teams, and serve as a consultative partner in ad-hoc initiatives. Familiarity with enterprise data solutions and the market for them, along with advanced proficiency with mixed methods, will be a value-add.

This is a hybrid role, requiring a minimum of 3 times/week in office to an eligible work location (San Francisco, CA, Seattle/Bellevue, WA, Chicago, IL, New York, New York or Atlanta, GA).

Minimum Requirements

  • 7-10+ years of experience conducting research in product research, user research, market research, or technology contexts

  • Advanced understanding of research methods (qualitative and quantitative) and best practices, and familiarity with a broad range of user research tools

  • Advanced understanding in survey methodologies and tools (i.e. MaxDiff, Conjoints, segmentation, advanced analytics, SPSS, R)

  • Proven track record influencing product direction and strategy with actionable insights

  • Ability to plan, design, execute and communicate both strategic and tactical research engagements

  • Ability to structure and lead internal and external workshops and analyze the outcomes to provide insight for stakeholders

  • Experience working in cross-functional teams (e.g. customer success, solution architects, design, product management, engineering, marketing)

  • Excellent project management, communication, storytelling, and presentation skills

  • A related technical degree required

Preferred Requirements:

  • A degree in a research- or business-focused subject area or in a field emphasizing human behavior (e.g., Psychology, Anthropology, HCI, Business, Research Methodology, Experimental Design, Design Research) Previous research or domain experience in enterprise software, data solutions, and/or AI capabilities

For New York-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $200,800 to $334,600. For Washington-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $184,000 to $306,600. For California-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $200,800 to $334,600. For Illinois based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $184,000 to $306,600. Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Certain roles may be eligible for incentive compensation, equity, benefits.
