Position Highlights The Department of Internal Medicine at The University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix invites talented academic scientists to apply for this outstanding career faculty opportunity. The successful applicant will have interest and expertise in the broad area of translational research, specifically development of patient-derived organoid technology and human pluripotent stem cell biology. The applicant will have expertise in a broad area of disease indications, including cancer, lung disease, liver disease, or fibrosis. A strong track record of NIH-funding and publishing of peer-reviewed articles is required. Individuals will be expected to spend 90% of their time in research related activities, including collaborative team-based science, with an expectation to also engage in medical education and academic service.

The successful candidate will fulfill the responsibilities of a faculty member in the department of internal medicine, actively participate in scholarly work, teaching, clinical service, and/or and must qualify for an appointment at the rank of assistant or associate professor.

The successful candidate will meet the requirements of tenure track faculty according to the College and University guidelines.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Maintain
    a nationally recognized and continuously funded research program in the field
    of 3D organoid biology and iPSC biology.
  • Expand
    collaborative efforts with The University of Arizona biomedical scientists
    and physician scientists in the development of organoids relevant to
    cancer, lung disease, and liver disease.
  • Demonstrate
    scholarly activity by publishing results in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Participate
    in both undergraduate medical and graduate education
  • Participate
    in advising duties and committee assignments.
  • Participate
    as a productive member of the Department and the College through impactful
    scholarly work and good citizenship.
  • Additional duties as
    assigned
Minimum Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in related field of
    study.
  • Post-doctoral training and
    experience commensurate with appointment at the rank of Assistant
    or Associate Professor.
  • Demonstrated scholarly
    accomplishment in research.
Preferred Qualifications

* Experience in cancer, lung, or liver organoid development.

* Current funding in the area of 3D organoid biology.

* Experience in melanoma, pancreatic cancer, GI cancers, and lung cancer.

* Experience investigating fibrotic diseases and drug development approaches.

* Experience studying fibroblast biology and/or cancer associated fibroblasts (CAFs).
