Introduction

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented VBA Developer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in developing, maintaining, and optimizing applications and scripts using Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) within Microsoft Office applications, primarily Excel, Visio, Word. PowerPoint, and Access. This role requires a strong analytical mindset, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver tailored solutions that improve operational efficiency and data accuracy.

What you'll be doing
  • VBA Development:
    Design, develop, and maintain VBA-based applications, scripts, and macros within Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word, Visio, PowerPoint.)
  • Automation:
    Streamline repetitive tasks and processes by creating robust VBA solutions that improve productivity and accuracy.
  • Database Integration:
    Work with databases, including writing and optimizing SQL queries, integrating with Access, and connecting VBA solutions to external data sources.
  • Testing and Debugging:
    Conduct thorough testing of VBA scripts and applications, identify issues, and implement effective debugging solutions.
  • Documentation:
    Create detailed technical documentation for developed solutions, including user guides and code comments, to ensure maintainability.
  • Collaboration:
    Work closely with stakeholders to gather requirements, understand workflows, and deliver solutions aligned with business objectives.
  • Support and Maintenance:
    Provide technical support for existing VBA solutions, troubleshoot issues, and implement enhancements as needed.
Location and Travel Details:
  • This is a remote opportunity with some travel to the client site.
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Travel to the People's Republic of China is prohibited for this role.
Security Clearance and Citizenship Requirements

Must be able to obtain and/or maintain a Secret clearance.

Required For This Opportunity
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Proficiency in Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) development.
    • Strong understanding of Excel functions, formulas, and data manipulation.
    • Experience with Microsoft Access and database management.
    • Ability to write and optimize SQL queries.
  • Analytical Skills:
    • Strong problem-solving abilities and an analytical mindset.
    • Capability to design and implement efficient workflows and automation solutions.
  • Attention to Detail:
    • Accuracy in coding and testing to minimize errors and ensure high-quality solutions.
  • Communication:
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience updating VBA macros from 32-bit to 64-bit.
  • Experience updating VBA macros to work with modern versions of Office.
  • Familiarity with other programming languages such as Python or .NET.
  • Experience with data visualization and reporting tools like Power BI.
  • Knowledge of other Microsoft 365 applications and their integration with VBA.
  • Understanding of Agile or Scrum methodologies.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in VBA development and automation.
