Summary

We are seeking a skilled and versatile Audio Visual (AV) Technician to support and maintain AV systems throughout our city facilities. This role will be responsible for managing AV setups in various locations, including city council chambers, courtrooms, and Teams meeting rooms. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work effectively in diverse environments.

Pay Range: $23.62 - 30.14 (Depending on qualifications)

Work Schedule: Full-time position with occasional evening and weekend work required for council meetings or special events.

Key Responsibilities
  • City-wide AV Support:

  • Manage and maintain AV systems across multiple city facilities, including council chambers, courtrooms, and office spaces.

  • Set up, operate, and troubleshoot video conferencing systems, particularly Microsoft Teams rooms.

  • Ensure proper functioning of cameras, microphones, speakers, and displays in all designated areas.

  • Council and Court Support:

  • Provide specialized AV support for city council meetings and court proceedings.

  • Operate multi-camera setups for live broadcasting and recording of official meetings and hearings.

  • Manage audio systems, including microphones and sound reinforcement, to ensure clear communication during sessions.

  • Equipment Management:

  • Install, maintain, and repair AV equipment throughout city facilities.

  • Conduct regular inspections and perform preventive maintenance on AV systems.

  • Manage inventory of AV equipment and coordinate purchases of new technology as needed.

  • Keep systems updated and patched to latest supported versions.

  • Technical Expertise:

  • Stay current with AV technology trends and recommend upgrades to improve city communications.

  • Provide training and support to city staff on the use of AV equipment and systems.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues promptly to minimize disruptions.

  • Networking Knowledge:

  • Understand and manage the integration of AV systems with IP networks.

  • Configure and troubleshoot networked AV devices to ensure seamless operation.

  • Customer Service:

  • Deliver exceptional customer service to city staff, officials, and the public.

  • Respond promptly to AV support requests and provide clear, courteous, and effective communication.

  • Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure AV needs are met efficiently.

Required Qualifications
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in audio-visual technology, digital media, or related field or related experience.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in AV support, preferably in a government or corporate setting.

  • Strong knowledge of video conferencing systems, particularly Microsoft Teams.

  • Proficiency in operating and maintaining various AV equipment, including cameras, microphones, mixers, and displays.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with diverse groups of people.

  • Knowledge of IP networking as it relates to AV systems.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with digital signage systems and content management.

  • Genetec or similar Enterprise Video Software

  • Strong customer service orientation and experience.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Capability to work in various environments, including indoor and outdoor settings.
