The Project Superintendent (Superintendent) reports to the project management applicable to each project where he/she is assigned to work. The role of the site supervisor has broad responsibilities, from managing staff and overseeing subcontractor activities to maintaining safety protocols and implementing site procedures. The site supervisor will keep accurate records of employee attendance and timesheets and required reports regarding equipment usage and maintenance. The site supervisor conducts daily inspections for compliance and site safety and will communicate site activities, problems and, or incidents to the project manager and superintendents daily. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work; training employees; appraising performance; disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems

  • Complete all required safety training as scheduled and participate in all project TBT and safety meetings
  • Review SDS's as needed
  • Ensure that all employees conduct pre and post shift inspections of equipment and complete required logs/reports
  • Oversee and ensure that all safety rules are being followed at all sites at all times
  • Produce work schedules in accordance with availability of employees and monitor the attendance of crew members
  • Coordinate daily tasks according to priorities and plans, adjusting as necessary due to weather, supply delivery and personnel
  • Delegate responsibilities and individual projects to the crew members according to project schedules
  • Act as liaison between crew members and the project management
  • Ensure timely completion of daily construction activities per the plan specifications
  • Coordinate duties of crew members with other supervisors and superintendents working on the jobsite
  • Plan, schedule and direct the employees assigned to the different phases of the project
  • Use Personal Protective Equipment appropriate for the duties performed
  • Maintain an acceptable 3 year driving history per company policy
  • Willing to work various shifts according to project needs and willing to travel throughout southwestern states as assigned

The superintendent will oversee onsite operations and will provide support and direction for the onsite foremen and crew members. The superintendent will assist the project manager coordinating work schedules of the subcontractors' ensuring that the contracted work adheres with the contract owners' expectations. The superintendent will spend most of the work week in a construction site office and company pick-up truck but will occasionally work in and around the various work areas and must wear required personal protective equipment. The work environment frequently exposes the supervisor to high levels of noise, fumes and dust that are typically associated with a highway construction project. The position is safety sensitive as the supervisor will occasionally work around operational heavy equipment and moving machinery. The superintendent must be able to climb in and out of a company pick-up truck safely and walk over even and uneven surfaces. The assigned shifts will vary, depending on the needs of the project owner and may include night and weekend shifts.
