Research Associate I

Location: Lexington, MA
Details: On-site, 5 days/week (in Lab)

Job Description: Join our multinational and diverse team as a Research Associate in the Nucleic Acid Delivery, Formulations & Bioanalysis department. Collaborating with Laboratory Technicians, Specialists/Scientists, and a global department manager, you will contribute to the development of synthetic/non-viral nanomedicines, employing advanced analytical characterization techniques, and facilitating the transition to preclinical and clinical studies through internal and external collaborations.

Essential Functions:

  • Regularly formulate and characterize lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) loaded with nucleic acids at small to mid-scale using microfluidics, ensuring reproducibility and scalability while maintaining high product quality and consistency.
  • Conduct freeze-drying studies to evaluate the stability of LNP formulations, including assessing critical formulation parameters and optimizing freeze-drying cycles for maximum stability and efficacy.
  • Communicate findings to the team through presentations and written reports.
  • Independently plan, execute, and document experiments.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree strongly preferred with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience required, OR high school diploma with 8+ years relevant experience, OR Associate or Vocational degree with 4+ years relevant experience may also be considered.
  • Relevant experience can include a combination of industry and academic settings and should encompass some of the following:
    • Hands-on experience in formulating lipid nanoparticles at small to mid-scale using microfluidics.
    • Experience with analytical methods, including biophysical techniques like dynamic light scattering (DLS) and fluorescent-based assays (e.g., Ribogreen/PicoGreen), chromatography, and pH measurements.
    • Hands-on experience in lyophilization of lipid nanoparticles.
    • Proficiency in maintaining good lab practices and adhering to equipment SOPs.
    • Experience with automation is a plus.

Top 3 Must-Have Skills:

  1. Hands-on experience in formulating lipid nanoparticles at small to mid-scale using microfluidics.
  2. Hands-on experience in characterizing lipid nanoparticles loaded with nucleic acids (e.g., Ribogreen, DLS).
  3. Hands-on experience in lyophilization of lipid nanoparticles.
