Transportation Construction Inspector

In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of all testing procedures in accordance with Pennsylvania test methods, as well as the relevant standards set by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials and the American Society for Testing and Materials. Your duties will include monitoring shipments to confirm that the quality of delivered materials adheres to specifications, ensuring that weigh slips accurately reflect the quantities shipped. Additionally, you will observe technicians conducting tests and maintaining quality control at Portland cement plants, asphalt plants, and aggregate quarries.

You will be tasked with meticulously documenting sampling and testing methods, following the designated procedures for each specific material type. It is crucial that you promptly report any potential issues and, when feasible, propose solutions to address them. Your attention to detail and proactive approach will be vital in maintaining the integrity of the testing process and ensuring compliance with established standards.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office Clearfield.
• Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• One year as an Engineering Technician (commonwealth title); or
  
• Two years as a Transportation Technician or Construction Cost Technician 1 (commonwealth titles); or
• Three years of experience in highway or bridge surveying, design, construction, or inspection work; or
• Three years of experience in quality control of materials or building or construction industry experience, which includes reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, or schematics; or
• One year of construction inspection experience, and an associate's degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying engineering technology, or a closely related engineering technology; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

• This position requires possession of an active non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License or equivalent.
