You Will Get introduced to the ironworking trade-which includes stick welding, rigging, and constructing buildings with structural steel-by completing classroom instruction, gaining hands-on experience, and obtaining a welder's certification. The Ironworking Development Program has limited openings. Typical Responsibilities / Essential Functions
- Attend classroom and hands-on training.
- Perform stick welding (3G & 4G) and wire feeding welding.
- Perform steel erection, including shake-out, connections, and detail work.
- Field verify dimensions and perform field fabrication and fitting.
- Perform rigging work, including jacking, skating, heavy forklift operation, and loading/unloading trucks.
- Work at heights using ladders, man lifts, etc.
- Safely work with and around hydraulic and crawler cranes.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Must pass Welder's Certification to complete program.
- Must be willing to travel for "out of town" jobs as needed and some will require overnight stay once program has been completed.
- Strong math skills are essential.
- Ability to work in a crew-based and fast-paced environment.
- Must have a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
- Punctuality and dependability are required.
- Perform a variety of manual tasks for extended periods and sometimes in unfavorable weather conditions.
- Ability to pass DOT pre-employmentphysical and drug/alcohol screening.
